Many times I prefer to create my own seasonal decor since it’s more economical and adaptable to personalization. Plus I simply enjoy crafting. My mother instilled in me a love for crafting at a young age, and I have always crafted something or the other throughout my life. More than enjoying the craft process, I love, love to share craftiness with others who enjoy it too. I hope you find some inspiration for your own home in the following projects.

Fall is the Season of the Pumpkin
Pumpkins are the belle of the ball during the Fall season. Let me show you ways you can make inexpensive craft pumpkins into autumnal masterpieces. I have up-cycled many a pumpkin through the years, and I have a few more ideas for this season.
You can see more pictures and read more details by clicking on the links below the images.
Painted Pumpkins
Paint is a magic craft wand that transforms so many things. I chose white paint for my up-cycled pumpkins, but you can use any color that matches your styling.
I added Spanish moss and ceramic knobs as stems to give these pumpkins added personality. The possibilities on how you can embellish your pumpkins are endless, including wooden branches, spools, twigs, leaves, etc.
Metallic Painted Pumpkins
Continuing with the paint theme, using metallics adds a bit of glam to your pumpkin stylings. Once again using mini plastic Dollar Tree pumpkins with a few coats of metallic gold paint they were transformed.
I used these metallic pumpkins as place settings at our Thanksgiving table a few years ago. You could also use silver, bronze, copper or any metallic color, which coordinates with your decor or theme.
Chalkboard Paint Pumpkins
Another favorite paint around here for DIY projects is chalkboard paint. One can apply it on so many things, which then can be personalized further with words, art, etc.
The great thing about using the chalkboard medium is that it’s easily adaptable to different motifs. I can use it for fall decor as well as a halloween accent.
Glitter Pumpkins
If you have been around here longer than a hot minute then you know I love to create seasonal decor using German glass glitter. These glitter pumpkins were inspired by Pottery Barn, but once again you can use any color glitter you desire.
As always I like to mix glitz & glam with a bit of organic elements. These glitter pumpkins look right at home in a bed of dried hydrangeas from the back yard. The rustic and refined combination gets me every time.
Moss Pumpkins
Another medium I love to use for decor projects is moss. These moss pumpkins give me all the organic feels I absolutely love.
I collected wood branch stumps from my yard to add as stems to round out the organic element.
Decoupaged Pumpkins
Using any type of paper you desire, a cheap pumpkin can easily be transformed. I used book print pages here, but you can use pretty napkins, tissue paper, wrapping paper, etc. with any pattern that speaks to you.
For the stem I used ribbon scraps and leaf pins from my craft stash. These added details continue the nostalgic feels from the book pages.
Banners, Garlands and Swags is a Great Way to Drape Seasonal Goodness
Banners, garlands and the like are great decor accessories. They can be draped around doorways, across mantels, on top of mirrors and more. This forms a free formed frame, which is a great accent piece for seasonal decor
You can see more pictures and read more details by clicking on the links below the images.
Bookprint Leaf Garland
Once again book pages to the rescue. I find books at thrift stores, garage sales and the Dollar Tree, which can be used for all sorts of decor projects.
This is a super rewarding paper craft. I used book pages to create my leaves, but once again you can use any kind of paper which speaks to you and coordinates with your decor style.
Pennant Chalkboard Banner
By using chalkboard paint on this pennant type banner, it can be altered and used for so many different seasons and events.
This is a great piece that I use all year long for so many occasions.
Burlap Garland
Between the burlap, pine cones and twine this garland has all the rustic feels. It’s also highly pliable which can be weaved around nooks and crannies.
I use this from September all the way into the new year towards the end of winter. It can also be used down a table for a special table styling.
“Gather” Leaf Sheet Music Swag
Sheet music is another muse around here for many projects. Cutting out leaf patterns from vintage sheet music could simply be done. I chose to print “gather” on the leaves, but it is not necessary.
You could also print a different sentiment on the leaves, making this an easily customizable project to your needs.
“Nevermore” Halloween Banner
In the same vein, I printed “nevermore” on book pages for this halloween vignette. The book pages of course tie into the Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven” theme.
This is one of my favorite halloween vignettes. I can almost hear Vincent Price’s voice.
Wreaths are Fabulous Accents Inside and Outside Homes
I absolutely love decorating with wreaths. Through the years I have found that making my own is a much more economical way to go, since some can be quite pricey.
Burlap Leaf Wreath
This is a super versatile wreath, which comes together quickly with Dollar Tree supplies. I used brown and green tones for the wreath but if you like brighter colors you can use the burnt oranges, golds and reds from the Fall spectrum. Make it yours.
This burlap leaf wreath can easily be transformed into a candle ring for the holiday season. All the details on how to make both projects are found in the original post.
You can see more pictures and read more details by clicking and following the links below the images.
Metallic Leaf Wreath
Metallic spray paint really makes these leaves pop. I love the glitzy detail on an organic element.
Once again you could spray paint your leaves any color you desire, which makes this project quite adaptable.
Pine Cone Wreath
Pine cones are a great foil for so many projects. They come in so many sizes, shapes, colors etc. I used a few different varieties for this project.
I recently shared this pine cone wreath in one of my early fall styling projects for the season.
Reindeer Moss Wreath
This last wreath is super simple put packs a stately statement. I made this since I wasn’t willing to pay for the inspiration piece, lol.
Although it lends itself to autumnal feels, I do use it most of the year since I love its organic simplicity.
Personalized Decor Accents are the Best
By creating your own decor accents, these pieces will carry your signature style, which will bring them all together .
You can see more pictures and read more details by clicking and following the links below the images.
Wheat Candles
I love the harvest magic these wheat candles create. I have a project planned for them this year and I can’t wait to share it with you later in the season.
The light shining through the wheat is magical as the evening gets progressively darker and darker.
Leaf Plate Chargers
If you like to set pretty seasonal tables you will love this leafy plate charger DIY. It will dress up any table setting with all the autumnal vibes. The leafs peaking out underneath a dinner plate are perfect for early fall all the way to Thanksgiving.
We used these chargers a couple of times last year and I can’t wait to pull them out again and create a pretty table styling. You can use leaves in different colors to coordinate your tabletop pieces.
Chalkboard Pumpkin Tags
Another great Fall tabletop accent are these wooden pumpkins with chalkboard paint. You can write anything you want on them or leave them plain for a simpler look.
They play double duty since they can be place cards or napkin rings or both. You can also make great signs for a buffet spread or a cheese board designating all the food choices.
Pine Cone Place Cards
Yet another tabletop accent (can you tell we like to set pretty tables around here?) are these pine cone place cards with silhouettes. Vintage silhouettes always grab my eye, which inspired these tags.
Simple shipping tags are converted into a vintage inspired place card with rustic and nostalgic vibes. If you desire, you can use other images like acorns or leaves or wheat to create a more generic fall look, making it less Thanksgiving specific
French Label Brown Bottles
These bottles are a great decor accent. They lend themselves to many looks, but are truly perfect for this time of year.
You will see them come out to play soon as I start sprinkling more fall touches throughout the house.
“Welcome Autumn” Pumpkin Wooden Sign
Once again this is a very simple design, which can be embellished with additional colors or details.
I’m looking forward to all the fall feels and all that the season brings with it, including cooler temps.
Fall is my Favorite Time of Year
Fall has always been my favorite time of year. I always loved back to school (I know, weird kid), I love the crispness in the air, I love the comfort foods, I love all the holidays. Bring.It.On!
I hope you enjoyed my crafty fall inspiration and can take away something to make your own. I have so many projects planned for this year, and I am looking forward to sharing with you all.
