french label bottles diy

The weather has been around 100 degrees around here the last couple of days, which makes it really hard to get into a fall festive mood. I turned to crafting to get in the mood and created these French label apothecary bottles.

Once I had these bottles all done, I managed to decorate the mantel for early fall. I used this little decor I had added in the kitchen to spring board the project.

Plus I also had some small brown bottles I was saving for this project.  Once again I loved the color and shape of them. Once upon a time they held things like facial moisturizer, vanilla extract and therapy oil.

how to make the French label apothecary brown bottles

  • Clean all the bottles and remove any labels
  • Sand all the containers to age the glass
  • Print French labels and cut out
  • Decoupage labels onto containers based on shape and scale

I filled the bottles with limelight hydrangeas from the garden that are slightly starting to turn color .

Some books and feathers are the perfect fall accents to start the season slowly.

Although blogland is making me want to pull out all my pumpkins and fall decor from the attic, I’m holding off for a little bit longer. I’ll have the fall decor out all the way through the end of November to Thanksgiving and that’s a long time. I get bored and want to change things around and 3 months is a long time…

Although we do have the halloween reprieve between the September early fall decor and the November Thanksgiving fall decor it’s still a long stretch. Which is why I’m starting slowly with little details like these sweet bottles with french labels, book stacks and some feathers in a brown transfer ware pitcher.

I’m loving seeing all the fall inspiration out there, whether from blogs or magazines or store merchandise or catalogs or whatever and although it’s giving me a ton of ideas, I am still resisting taking the big plunge into fall and instead I’m just sticking my toe in the water for now.

I used the The Graphic Fairy as a source for all the French labels.

This post {halloween potions DIY} can also be helpful in altering everyday bottles.

I’ll slowly add acorns and pumpkins and wheat and pine cones and all the fun fall  decor.  Stay tuned I’ll share as I go.

I love this idea and will have to head over to Graphic Fairy for the labels. I have several bottles laying around and now I know what to do with them. Thanks so much for sharing this at Celebrate Your Story and have a great weekend.
