Halloween is fast approaching and this bone appetit table design is the perfect setting for a fun dinner with family and friends. It’s a simple design with a bony theme and a black & white color palette.
The inspiration for this table are these skeletal bowls, which a sweet friend passed on to me. The bowls immediately ignited this design idea. The bowls perfectly mix and mingle with our regular table top plates, which made it easy. It’s a pretty simple design with all the fun halloween vibes.

Place Settings
The place settings are grounded by a ticking black & white fringed placemat, which I purchased from Etsy. The dinner plates are the black trimmed bistro plates from Williams-Sonoma, which you’ve seen in so many tablescapes around here.
Royal Stafford black transfer ware accent plates follow the dinner plates. Crowning the plate stack, sit the bony bowls or the muses of the table if you will.
The black striped bistro napkins are tucked in between the plates. I think I bought these napkins from Bed, Bath & Beyond years ago, and I absolutely love them because they launder like a charm and never, EVER need to be ironed.
The glassware were passed down from my parents, and both the highballs and the martini glasses have amazing etching on them. I don’t know about you, but glass etching gets.me.every.single.time. The fact that the glassware was my parents is just a happy bonus.
The flatware is a mix of collections. The dinner fork and spoon are from the everyday set from my childhood, which is now our everyday utensils. The steak knives are Henckels, which we’ve own since we married, and actually might have been part of our wedding registry. It’s been so long, I don’t really remember. Lastly, the appetizer fork is from the Hearth & Hand collection with Magnolia @ Target.
Centerpiece
A black & white striped table runner grounds the centerpiece. A wooden box made from reclaimed redwood sits on top of the runner in the center of the table, overflowing with bony skeletons and skulls and moody faux flowers.
An assortment of black votive candle holders are scattered around the wooden centerpiece, sparkling and giving the table a glimmer and glow. More skulls are tucked between the votives.
Guests
Even the guests are a pair of bony chaps. A gent and his dog sit at the ends of the table, fitting right into the scene. One cannot help but have fun with Halloween stylings since the subject matter is always mystical and magical.
Halloween Inspiration
One more halloween table design is scheduled for the season, which I hope to fit it in.
This weekend we are traveling to Boulder, CO for Miss M’s family weekend. The following weekend we will be in Eugene, OR, for family weekend for Master M. I’m super excited! But it is cramping my project schedule. I know it’s for very good reasons, and I would not have it any other way.
