Hello friends. Happy October! Decorating for Halloween is so fun, allowing us to let our inner child out to play. If you’re a Halloween decorator, then this post is for you. Today I am sharing how to decorate for halloween with a skeleton crew inspiration.

Skeletons, skulls and bones are all great muses for halloween decor. You can use them in scary, eerie, creepy and more ways either inside or outside your home.

a skeleton crew
Having a full sized skeleton, which can bend at joints in order to pose in different ways is super fun. I suggest investing in one that will last throughout the years. We’ve had this guy hanging around for about a decade now.

I love using our skeletons inside and out. It’s so fun to see everyone turn into a kid around this time of year.

bones
Sometimes instead of an entire skeleton, just some bones are a great detail for some spooky decor. Whether in mass or individual pieces.

If one of your full skeletons falls apart you can always use the separate parts in a witches’ cauldron for a fun effect.

off with their heads and just use the skulls
Decor items in mass always create more of an impact. This skull vignette was a fun project from a few years ago. And anything under a cloche immediately is incredibly more interesting.

I find many of my skulls at the Dollar Tree and with some Spanish moss and embellishments they’re great to inject into spooky vignettes. Below is a skull I simply decoupaged with book pages and added some glitter for effect. So much better than a plain plastic skull.

By simply adding a skull on a regular wreath you immediately have a Halloween door hanger.

table stylings
A “bone” appetite inspired table design is perfect for a halloween fete. Skull and skeletal dishes along with a skeletal center piece create the perfect vibe for a fun halloween dinner party.

Having a skeleton guest at a Halloween tablescape is always a fun added detail.

skeletal images
If you don’t have skeletons and skulls you can always just use images. I love silhouettes and these skeleton silhouettes were fun to add on some mini book page pumpkins.

Adding images to vintage sheet music is a super easy way to add seasonal details without spending a lot of money.

There are so many free printables to create some amazing Halloween decor accents. I have a post scheduled where I will share resources for you to use for your own projects.

outdoor skeleton crew decor
Of course decorating our outdoors for all the trick or treaters is super fun! I love using skeletons outside on the porch to greet our guests. The church pew bench is the perfect perch for the skeleton crew.

A spooky cemetery is always a great decor feature for your yard at Halloween. Remember this area of our front yard? This was the transformation {front yard sitting area}.

the skeletal crew inspiration
I hope this gets you in the mood to start adding some spooky touches around your house. Whether you use a skeleton crew too or some hocus pocus or other spooktacular magic it’s a fun time of year to indulge.
