green & black halloween tablescape

Our veggie garden is done for the season; when I was out in the garden last, seeing everything dead it just seemed so eerie, which evoked a feeling of something right out of a haunted movie.

Then I spied the huge rosemary shrub that survives through every winter.  it’s still the same plant we planted the first season in our garden almost a decade ago.

It’s such a hardy plant and somehow my brain connected the dead garden and the rosemary to a halloween table.   Don’t ask.  It’s how my brain works.

And here we are.  Green tends to be a go to color for me so this was truly a no brainer for me.

Green & black halloween tablescape3

I’ve always loved a good suspense story and Agatha Christie has always been a favorite of mine.

  Green & black halloween tablescape4

I love the idea of a creepy yet elegant haunted mansion and all that goes along with it.

The game clue is my favorite board game and the masterpiece family are all too aware and fully humor me when I get excited to have a family game.

For the place settings I started with the DIY plaid chargers a made a few years ago, then our everyday Williams Sonoma bistro dinner plates, Royal Stafford black transfer ware accent plates, my parent’s dessert striped plates topped with napkin along with a rosemary sprig tucked into napkin ring.

The place settings also include my sterling silver flatware which you can read all about here {metals II – sterling silver} along with green water goblets.

But the funnest part for me was using all my miss matched, tarnished silverplate.

Green & black halloween tablescape9

As many of you know I have a love affair with silverplate, which I shared here {silver I – silver-plate}; I pick up pieces all the time while thrifting, or at garage | estate sales or anywhere I find pieces at a good price.

I used candlesticks, goblets, server ware, decorative pieces I filled with dead flowers from a flower arrangement Mr. Masterpieces bought me awhile ago.

And nestled between all the silver-plate I included my DIY potion bottles I created a few years back.

Green & black halloween tablescape12

Plus to amp up the creepy factor I added some creepy crawlies all over the table.

Green & black halloween tablescape13

I have to admit this turned out to be a fun table to create, but then again halloween is all about fun.

Green & black halloween tablescape14

The sideboard got dressed up as well.

Green & black halloween tablescape15

I made the spell books a couple years ago along with the potion bottles.
