DIY Ornaments

German glass glitter is a favorite to use over here. I love how it patinas over time, giving anything a truly superb vintage look and feel. Simply spray adhesive on your items and sprinkle glass glitter deliberately all over the piece. Allow to cure completely and repeat process 2 or 3 times depending on the coverage.

The same technique as above is used to create these glittery snowflakes. They get better and better every year as the German glass glitter ages and patinas.

I used plastic snowflakes which come in a pack of 10 or 12 at the Dollar Tree. The patina on the edges is everything!

These can be used as ornaments, as place settings for a seasonal tablescape, or as unique hostess gift. I use them often as decor in my kitchen over the holiday season.

Remember to use a tray to catch all the excess glitter that doesn’t attach so you can save it for a later use. Trays can be found at craft stores but you can use a paper plate, Tupperware, etc.

Pine Cone Decor

Garlands and swags are always a great way to decorate a mantel or wrap around the Christmas tree or drape across an entry way. The uses are really endless.

This garland is fabulous because it’s super easy to make and you can actually use it from the beginning of the fall season into Christmas and all the way through late winter. It’s a simple burlap and pine cone garland.

I love to use pine cones around the house from fall into late winter. I forage pine cones everywhere I go and this wreath is a great way to use all those pine cones which were accumulating around here.

You can leave the pine cone wreath plain for a very organic feel or add a ribbon for a more decorative look, complementing other decor.
