You can create a winter wonderland scene with Christmas village decor anywhere in your home. You can set a huge village scene on a sideboard or simply tuck a couple of pieces on a shelf. I created a simple Christmas village in my parent’s old secretary desk, using a collection of Putz-like houses.

Are you a Christmas village person? I don’t particularly have a village set. Instead I have a collection of creamy houses inspired by vintage paper Putz houses, which I love to style to set a wintery scene.

I style the Christmas village decor differently every year, and this year I chose to display them in my mom’s antique secretary desk. The glittery houses are sprinkled throughout the shelves with Christmas trees and reindeer tucked in amidst the books.

an antique rustic antique desk
This antique secretary desk is one of my favorite pieces to style throughout the year for different seasons and events. If you are interested, you can read more about it in this post {through the seasons – an antique secretary desk}.

This is a chunky, rustic, dark wood antique desk. It’s probably from an old church somewhere in Latin America knowing my mother, who decorated with many religious relics.

I love the magic of snowy winter wonderland scenes, evoking nostalgia that’s comforting and peaceful to me. It’s a super, simple styling which was easy to put together and we have been enjoying it all season.

Some of the houses light from inside and some of the scenes are enclosed in little cloches. All these subtle differences add depth and interest to the whole secretary styling.

I love all the texture the bottle brush trees add, from the tiny ones to the big. The button tree is a craft I created from a Styrofoam cone years ago.

an other Christmas village styling
Here you can see how I styled the same Christmas decor on a side table a few years back. It’s fun to use the same decorations in different ways some years.

Christmastime is a magical time of year. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing your year with me. I am looking forward to sharing much more with you next year.

What a lovely display – and intriguing assortment of treasures! I’m especially fond of the collection sitting on the cake stand! I have a fairly large collection of Putz houses – many vintage ones that live happily beside newer reproduction ones – and I love seeing them every year.
Best wishes for a terrific holiday with lots of friends, family, and good food!
Thank you so much! I would love to see your vintage Putz houses! I’m sure they are beautiful. I love to mix originals with reproductions as well. It stretches collections in a practical manner. Thanks for the visit & Merry Christmas! XO- MJ
