Today I am sharing a Valentine’s Day vignette on a tray. A tray is a great vessel and foundation to create a seasonal vignette with a few simple components.

I chose to use a vintage European bulb crate to coral the vignette as my tray vessel. I layered it with other foundations like a pewter tray, books and a cake plate, since the bottom of the crate is mesh. The double tray gives more stability.
Valentine’s Day decor inspiration
Visions of pretty blooms, candies, chocolates and confections, hearts and soft candlelight come to mind when I think of Valentine’s Day,. This Valentine’s Day on a tray has a Shabby Chic feel to it, setting a soft, feminine and romantic ambiance.
The star of the show in my opinion is my Grandmother’s porcelain pitcher. You can read all about it here {a valentine’s ode to my grandmother}. It’s from an English maker called Clementson Bros. I love the pretty curves and soft florals that adorn the pitcher.

I filled the pitcher with white roses and eucalyptus I had left over from our {romantic BOHO table setting by firelight} plus some stock stems. The pink canning jar is full of some pink filler florals, which I am sorry I do not know the name. I love how delicate they are.
The pitcher overflowing with florals sits on the pewter tray for stability. All the florals on the tray echo the botanical feels. I including a mini cabbage plant, floral & sage smudge sticks, dried roses from last year and a forced paperwhite bulb.
The sweets sit on top of small cake plate placed on a stack of naked books for added height. The candle sits on a porcelain floral dish to play off the pitcher and gives the scene ambience.
The tray vignette is set on the sideboard in the dining room under the wreath I shared the other day {easy frame wreath tutorial}. It rounded off the soft romantic feel.

So pretty MaryJo, a tray in a tray! Your grandmother’s pitcher was wonderful inspiration for your beautiful and romance filled tray~ I love the white flowers and eucalyptus, the touches of pink from the flower fillers and sweets, the romantic candle and dried roses…and stacking books under the sweet dome to add elevation is so smart. I know those flowers grow on a shrub but can’t remember the name. I do remember the shrub is a hardy one!

This is just pretty and inspires me with some good ideas. I love the romantic touches. I also own a small cream pitcher similar to your larger pitcher. I like the idea of using our pretty dishes on display, not waiting for another day.
