The chalkboard trays are the star of the show, and I share more details about how to make them and use them at the end of the post. They are super versatile and fun to use in so many different ways.

The silver chalkboard trays with all the garden heartened words were the inspiration behind this table styling. These trays are a super easy DIY, using Dollar Tree trays. If you want to make some trays for yourself you can find the tutorial here {silver tray chalkboard DIY}.

When I was brainstorming for the table setting, I decided the moss chargers were a good choice for a garden inspired table. The moss chargers are also a DIY, which springboarded the mossy branches and other moss decor in the centerpiece. It gives all the organic vibes and woodsy feels.

All the pieces were chosen for either the woodsy feels OR fresh bloom vibes. It’s a fun and casual table perfect for this time of year. The wooden kitchen table is the perfect stage or backdrop for the table styling.

The table is pretty monochromatic with browns and greens for the woodsy feels, but then has unexpected pops of colors. The hand block printed napkins are a little detail that adds a big floral punch.

The spring green Ball jars are a great punch of color which pulls from the floral napkins. In the meantime the horn flatware grounds itself in the woodsy feels.

Usually floral centerpieces tend to be my biggest expense for a table styling. Not this time! The branches are all foraged. I keep a galvanized bucket full of branches in the yard for projects just like this. Anytime I see an interesting branch, especially mossy branches, I pick it up and bring it home. I know, my family thinks I’m nuts. lol.

The flowers were left over from our Mother’s Day celebration. I tucked them into the mossy containers I just made recently, which you can see the tutorial here {DIY moss containers from tin cans}. I can’t believe how fresh the flowers have stayed for so long. Grocery store flowers for the win!

As I mentioned, the chalkboard trays were the inspiration for the table. As promised, I’ll share how easy these are to make plus how versatile they are. I have used these in so many different ways and truth be told I probably have under used them. Hence, why I broke them out in style for this table scape. I actually have a few other upcoming projects planned for these trays. Stay tuned!

The trays can be found at the Dollar Tree. I see them there on a regular basis so hopefully they can be found in a store near you. Then simply apply three coats of chalkboard paint, allowing plenty of drying time in between. That’s it! See? It’s an easy and inexpensive project. For all the details and tips on the DIY you can read here {silver tray chalkboard DIY}.

You can find chalkboard paint here. Chalkboard paint is a great medium to work with by the way, if you’ve never used it. You can apply it to so many things, instantly creating a canvas for words, artwork and whatever your heart desires.

I use foam brushes to apply the paint. Foam brushes are a great item to have in your craft supplies. I use them for decoupage medium, acrylic paint and more. They are fairly inexpensive, and if you take care of them properly, depending on the medium you use, you can get a few uses out of them.

I have used these chalkboard trays in a variety of ways. They measure roughly 7.5×11-inches, making them big enough to scribe messages and create artwork, but small enough to make them manageable for many projects.

For table top purposes you can create a feeling using words as in this woodsy blooming garden inspired table design.

You can also create a feeling using artwork as in this patriotic table styling.

They also make great place cards at everyone’s place settings.

While entertaining you can use them for menu selections or recipe directions or specific labels.
