Houseplants make me happy. In turn, using houseplants in this garden party tablescape makes for a happy table. Come see all the garden goodness that makes this table styling a happy table setting.

The houseplant centerpiece sets the stage for the table. I set the table in the kitchen, since I want a relaxed vibe for the table styling. Several garden themed items on the table add layers to the plant motif.

Centerpiece for a garden party tablescape
A variety of houseplant containers lined down the center of the table set the garden party theme. By gathering all the plants around my house, I was able to fill the different containers. I let each plant dictate which container it went in by how the profile and color of the plant complimented the planter.

Once all the plants and containers were married together, I worked on the composition of arranging them down the table. Varied heights and colors provide a nice variety, which brings interest to the table. By alternating the shapes, sizes and colors of the containers, it allows for each one to shine.

The centerpiece is further complimented by all the garden vibes exuding from each individual place setting.

Place setting details
⚜️Green Toile Placemat {Bed Bath & Beyond}
⚜️Moss Chargers {DIY}
⚜️Ironstone Bellegay Dinner & Accent Plate {parents}
⚜️Noritake Princeton small bowl {thrifted}
⚜️Green Milk & Depression Glass Glasses {Anthropologie}
⚜️Tea Towel Napkin {unknown}
⚜️Garden Glove Flatware Pocket {Dollar Tree}

This table was incredibly fun for me to set. I love gardening and I love the color green so it all came together easily.

The placemats and moss chargers set a great foundation at each place setting, just like a lush lawn. The placemats are reversible between a toile design and a ticking stripe design. I get double duty from these placemats, and they go through the laundry beautifully, which makes them low maintenance to use. The scalloped edges are everything!

The plates are from my parents and they were our everyday dishes during my childhood. They do scream 70s to me. There’s a 70s tablescape planned on the schedule. That will be a groovy. 🙂

The little bowls on top were a great thrift find a few years ago. The little floral detail is perfect for me. I love the delicate color palette and daisies are favorites of mine. It’s the perfect little detail for a garden party tablescape.

The garden gloves serve as the flatware pockets and add another layer of garden goodness and whimsy. Once we’re done with the table, the gloves will end up in the gardening tote. I always love having extra gardening gloves, which can be used for yuckier projects and then disposed of, if ruined.

There are other garden inspired details around the table to keep the theme fresh.

There’s a plant mister on one side of the table amongst the plants.

While there’s a jug of mini gardening tools on the other side.

There’s also some leaf motif cocktail napkins, weighted down by floral shears.

These are all small details that keep the table fun, fresh and interesting.

Garden goodness
As gardens are exploding in the great outdoors, it’s also nice to maintain some nature inside. I am a big proponent of houseplants so it was easy to corral them all together for this table styling.

Plants improve the quality of indoor air. Houseplants are also therapeutic, mood boosters, and provide stress relief and sharpen focus.

I have been wanting to do a tablescape like this for awhile. I had a vision in my head, and it actually came out better than I expected. You know, so many times things IRL don’t always translate from the magical visions in our heads. I hope you enjoyed this garden party tablescape as much as I did!
