Valentine’s Pearl Table Styling

Valentine's Pearl Table Styling

Pearls are not only for jewelry and couture. Whether you share this table with a special person or with a group of friends, the pearl details are timeless and classic. This can also be adapted for further celebrations like Mother’s day, an anniversary or simply a themed event.

Styled 2 Ways is a collaboration between my blog, Master”pieces” of my Life, & the blog From the Bay to the Beach, penned by Susan. Two different points of view for a particular styling, project or concept are shared.  A guest host sometimes includes another styling for triple the fun. Thank you for joining us; we’re happy to have you here with us.

Styled 2 Ways Winter Table Edition

Although Susan and I both like many of the same things, we both have unique styles of our own, and we want to share how the same idea can be expressed in different ways. Both ways are equally as fantastic, and appreciating other unique takes on the same idea expands our own personal style.

When you are done here, please hop over and visit Susan and check out her Galentine’s ideas post. If you are here visiting from Susan’s place, welcome, I am so happy you are here. Leave me a comment down below; I would love to get to know you. Come on in, have a seat and enjoy!

MaryJo behind the blog

Valentine’s Day falls smack dab in the middle of February which is smack dab in the middle of the winter season. In honor of this winter table edition of Styled 2 Ways, a Valentine’s table styling is spotlighted. If you’re a regular reader, then you are aware of my pearl obsession this past holiday season. Well, the holidays might be over, but the pearls are still going strong around here. And here we are.

Valentine's Pearl Table Styling

Styling a Valentine’s table with pearls sets the stage with classic and vintage vibes, which can be used for a romantic table styling, or an intimate table with friends or a bustle-y celebration with a large group. Regardless, my hope is that this inspires you to set a table in your home.

The plate stack is easy in the sense that it’s a matching set. The neutral and simple plate stack allows the pearl napkin ring to shine, which is the star of the show.

The silverware and glassware is mixed and matched to relax the table styling, since the plate stack is very formal. This allows a bit of whimsy and playfulness to relax the table and set a jovial tone.

Although the centerpiece is a grouping of assorted items, the antique bread board grounds the display. A table runner or large tray can also be used for the same purpose.

Sideboards and buffets are also great spaces to further decorate and ground the theme. I fringed pearl garland trim is the perfect accent in the background, creating a cohesive space.

Ground the Theme

Valentine’s is the obvious theme here, but beyond that, the pearls are a subtle, timeless theme. The name of the game for the table is pearls here and pearls there. Pearls are not only for couture. Whatever theme you choose, make sure it’s front and center, with a cohesive composition.

Shop your Home First

I’m a big proponent of shopping your home first and looking for decor and pieces you can use in unexpected ways. The pearl motif and theme are a carry over from the holiday season. The pearl accents which were bought and used as Christmas decor are repurposed and reused here. Always look for ways to use your seasonal decor in unexpected ways, stretching your dollar and resources. The unexpected always makes for a special touch.

Use all the Stuff

Use all the fancy stuff on the daily. I know hand washing china, crystal and silver is not at the top of anyone’s list, but indulge once in awhile. I like to pull out our wedding china and all the stuff every so often. Don’t save the good stuff only for holidays. Letting all these special “dishes” simply sit in a cabinet is no fun. If you have grandma Rose’s china, by all means bring it out to play. By using some refinery you immediately elevate the meal and occasion. We all deserve a touch of the special stuff.

Amp the Ambiance

Use details which reinforce the theme and bring it to life. Candlelight always sets a romantic and festive tone and is kind of necessary on a Valentine’s table. Wear pearls to carry the theme further and mention it to your guests, which creates immediate camaraderie and includes everyone in the festivity. Beyond that, putting together a menu with festive foods and a playlist with appropriate music all adds layers to the celebration, creating a themed ambience for everyone to enjoy.

Thrifting for the Win

You don’t need to spend a fortune to set a pretty and festive table. You can always find table top pieces at garage sales, thrifts and flea markets. Many of the pieces on this table are thrifted, including the assorted silverware, some drink ware, the candle sticks and many of the centerpiece accents. Thrifted pieces are not only economical but environmental sound, which add character and charm to any interior.

  2. Love all the pearl elements, MaryJo. There’s something so elegant and charming about pearls. Also thought the placemats were especially soft and inviting. the soft pink works really well with your more formal china. Great job!
