Fireside romantic table 4 two

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing a cozy table set by a roaring fire that is perfect for any long winter night.  I set this with Valentine’s Day in mind, but I think it’s even more special to just set a pretty table to share with your loved one, anytime, just because.  The unexpected is always so much more special.

I placed our antique French coffee table in front of the fireplace and set a table for two with fine china, crystal and sterling.

Adding fresh, beautiful blooms in a silver pitcher and tucking pretty linens between the china plates adds to the romantic feel.

Details like butter pats and silver salt & pepper shakers are customs from a bygone era that I love to revel in every once in awhile to make an occasion extra special.

We actually did not eat Valentine’s dinner at this table since it was our entire family home as we continue to quarantine.

Mr. M and I did share a cocktail as we sat here enjoying the fire and discussing how soon enough, too soon actually, we’ll be able to eat like this all too often since both kids will be grown & flown.

And as far as the quarantine is concerned, we are almost done with the separation window.  Thank goodness since I can’t wait to go out freely again.  We have all tested negative and haven’t developed any symptoms. 🙌🏼

We actually have spent Valentine’s Day at home for many years now since it’s usually a crazy night for restaurants.  Reservations are usually required and prix fixed menus are created and prices are unnecessarily high.  Staying home is a good place to be in our opinion.

We enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen.  We also like crafting cocktails and enjoying complimentary wines.  Although being served and not having to clean up is nice too, for this particular evening we prefer to do it ourselves, at home, together.

A cozy fire, flickering candle light, and pretty cut flowers is the perfect formula for a romantic setting.  It creates the perfect ambiance to immediately relax and enjoy your company and surroundings.

All the silver I used here is thrifted with the exception of the sterling flatware I inherited from my parents which you can read about here {metals II – sterling silver}.  The candlesticks, the pitcher, the chargers, the S&P shakers and the ornate bowl with the decoupage sheet music hearts were all thrifted through the years.  You can read a bit of my silver thrifting escapades here{thrift store finds}

The Lenox Citation Lace china and the Waterford Ballymore crystal champagne flutes and wine glasses are all from our wedding registry.  We use them frequently and I love using them.every.single.time.

Fireside romantic table 4 two 12 I recently shared how to make the moss heart garland hanging on the mantel and you can read all the step by step instructions here{happy Valentine’s Day}.
