Summerween has become a trend, which was inspired by the Disney show “Gravity Falls”. The fictional town in the show celebrates Halloween twice a year, once in the fall and again in the summer, which has led to a phenomenon of celebrating Halloween in summer. Queue in Summerween.
When is Summerween?
Summerween in the show “Gravity Falls” is celebrated on June 22nd plus Halloween is celebrated again on the regular October 31st date. The concept has since gained popularity as a way to enjoy Halloween-themed activities during the summer months, blending summer celebrations with spooky touches. Halloween decor and ideas start to pop up at retailers and on social media during the summer months, which is perfect timing.
Why Summerween?
These Summerween celebrations balance spooky touches with sunny decorations. Picture watermelon jack-o-lanterns and ghosts hanging on a pineapple garland. Summerween is a scam by companies and retailers to get folks to spend money early on their overpriced Halloween junk. Consumers should be smart and save their money.
Summerween is definetly a marketing campaign. I tend to make much of my own seasonal decor just for that reason.
