Seashell Vignette Styled in the Foyer

The bombe chest in the front hall is styled with vintage milk glass & sea shells, which had a sneak peek in this post {thrifted goodies – hobnail & ruffle vintage milk glass pieces}.

Coastal and nautical decor always reminds me of summer time. We do not necessarily live by the coast, being slightly over an hour away from then beach and about 1/2 hour away from the San Francisco Bay. I only bring out our sea shells and other sea form over the summer months.

I shared thoughts about my summer decor in this post here {summer welcoming decor}. You can see how the foyer vignette has slowly morphed through the summer. As we’ve gotten deeper into the summer season, I added more sea shells and removed the flags.

Miss Masterpieces helped me during the styling and photo shoot, adding the starfish on the lantern on the one side. I love the dimension it adds. I love when she helps me with projects like this. When she heads back to college in a few weeks, I will miss her.

I also added hydrangeas from the backyard in the woven vase. These are from our blue hydrangea bushes, which I also used for our Father’s Day outing {picnic on a mountain top}. These are slowly starting to fade, but my limelight hydrangeas are about prime right now, which I will be sharing shortly. They are my favorite!

Fresh lavender from the garden also hangs on the mirror with a velvet ribbon. Lavender is a favorite around here, which I shared in this post {so many reasons to love lavender}. I’m hoping to get one more lavender project out before the season is over.

I also snipped some sprigs of rosemary, which I used in some of the milk glass pieces. The milk glass and seashells, although. super pretty, are also very cold in texture and neutral in color. The rosemary adds texture, color and a fresh, organic detail.

If you’re a regular around, here you know I love vintage. Whether it’s legacy passed down from generations before or thrift, flea market finds or new replicas made to have an old world feel, I love them all. I used some vintage milk glass pieces in this vignette.

You can read more details about the {thrifted goodies – hobnail & ruffle vintage milk glass pieces} here. These are all fairly new pieces to me. The large basket is full of assorted seashells, while the small dish only has one small spiky seashell with some rosemary from the garden.

The third piece of milk glass is a footed dish, which holds a candle wrapped in rosemary sprigs for added freshness. I love the ruffled edges on these milk glass pieces. The ruffles add movement and texture to the seashell vignette.
