Styled 2 Ways Collaboration
Styled 2 Ways is a collaboration between myself, MaryJo @Masterpieces of my Life, & Susan @From the Bay to the Beach. Two different points of view for a particular styling, project or concept are shared. A guest host sometimes includes another styling for triple the fun. We publish on the 2nd Wednesday of the month @ 4AM Pacific Time. Thank you for joining us; it’s lovely to have you here.
Although Susan and I both like many of the same things, we both have unique styles of our own, and we want to share how the same idea can be expressed in different ways. Both ways are equally as fantastic, and appreciating other unique takes on the same idea expands our own personal style.
When you are done here, please hop over and check out Susan’s Fall table. If you are here visiting from Susan’s place, welcome, I am so happy you are here. Leave me a comment down below; I would love to get to know you. Come on in, have a seat and enjoy!
Inspiration Behind the Copper Halloween Table
The copper jack-o-lanterns are the inspiration behind the table. They usually glow on our front porch, but I wanted to bring them inside and use them in a new and unexpected manner. And here we are. You can view them in previous years by following the links below.
I break-up the Fall season in three distinct categories and Halloween falls smack dab in the middle, which is why I chose it for this Fall table edition of Styled 2 Ways. Please come in and take a seat at the copper inspired Halloween table.
MJ Fall Seasonal Categories:

Details of the Halloween Copper Inspired Tablescape
Setting a table should be fun and not stressful. Regardless of the theme or occasion, lean into the things you already own and set the table in new and unexpected ways. Look at catalogs, Pinterest, or blogs like this for inspiration if needed, and then (the most important part!) put your own spin on it with your personal style.

Plate Stack
The plate stack begins with my parents’ copper chargers, which sets the tone with a touch of rustic and refined. The plate stack also ends with a copper individual baker casserole. These were an amazing find at Home Depot years ago. The casual linen napkin and bistro plate keep the table grounded in a relaxed and simple manner.
- Copper Charger {inherited}
- Open Kitchen Black Bistro Dinner Plate {Williams-Sonoma}
- LinenMe Striped Black Napkin {Whim House}
- Copper Baker {Home Depot}
The juxtaposition of rustic and refined always calls my name. There’s a bit of that in this table styling.
MJ Insider Table Styling Tip:
Let something that inspires guide you to plan, design and set an intentional and thoughtful table for your family and guests. You don’t necessarily need “themed” tabletop pieces, but rather lean into colors, patterns and textures to evoke the theme. This makes basic dish ware more versatile and extends their worth.
Place Setting
The place setting details are mismatched with intention. The glassware and utensils are not a matching set of anything, but they coordinate the look and feel of the table. The glasses and copper mugs are both thrifted, while the silverware we’ve owned forever either passed down from my parents or gifted to us when we starting out as a couple.
- Stainless Fork & Spoon {inherited}
- Black Henckle Steak Knife {wedding registry}
- French Style Glass Goblet {thrifted}
- Assorted Copper Mugs {Assorted}
Traditional, classic pieces never go out of style. Investing on pieces that will go the distance and serve you for decades or forever is a smart way to go. If you want to spend on more trendy table top items make sure they are reasonably priced, because chances are they will fall out of favor.
Centerpiece
The stars of the show, and the inspiration for the Halloween table are the three copper jack-o-lanterns clustered in the middle of the table. They are surrounded by copper mercury glass votives. The centerpiece is full of shine and glow from the lanterns and the votives, which is a mix of flameless candles and real votives.
- LinenMe Provence Black Tablecloth {Whim House}
- Assorted Copper Jack-o-lanterns {Michaels & Whim House}
- Mercury Glass Copper Votives {thrifted}
The simplicity of the centerpiece allows all the copper to shine literally and figuratively. Elaborate centerpieces aren’t always necessary and sometimes less is more.

Key Pointers on Setting a Festive Table
Setting a pretty and festive table does not have to be complicated, expensive or stressful. Use what you have in unique ways and pay attention to the details. I am not a matchy-matchy gal with all my tabletop, preferring to mix and match, but I do like to have continuity and flow to the theme and mood of a table.
Curate & Ground the Theme
Identifying a theme for a table setting, whether it’s a color or pattern or motif, is one of the most important aspects of setting a festive table. The theme will guide you and ground the table in a cohesive manner. It’s doesn’t mean it has to be an elaborate theme, it can be as simple as a farmhouse table, but in keeping with a theme it creates the desired feel.
Mix & Match
Mixing and matching table top pieces allows freedom to play and removes the pressure to follow any set rules. This allows all the mismatched pieces to shine and add charm and character to any table styling. You don’t need to have a matching set of anything to set a thoughtful and pretty table. The varied layers actually provide added interest to the table and might be conversation starter. Variety, assortments and mismatched pieces add interest and contrast to a table display, creating a cozy and relaxed atmosphere.
Amp the Ambiance
Proper lighting can make or break the ambience. Candlelight always sets a festive tone and is reinforced here with the jack-o-lanterns and coppery votives. The sparkle and shine is a fun mood setter. Always keep in mind to not use scented candles on a dining table since the scents will compete with the aromas of the food. Smell affects taste and you don’t want to interfere with the flavors of the meal.

Q & A – Halloween Copper Table Styling
Q1. How can I create a cohesive look with my place settings?
A1.The key to a polished table design is to layer, mix and match with intention. Start with a foundation like a tablecloth or table runner and build from there. Placemats and plate chargers add an attention to detail plus decorative plates and glassware include an air of festivity. Use patterns and textures to create interest and use finishing touches like wrapping silverware in decorative accents or personalized place cards.
Q2. Do I need a theme to set a festive table?
A2. Absolutely not! A theme helps guide a table styling but you can let colors, patterns and style guide you as well. Use what you have in new and unique ways.
Q3. What are some easy and affordable centerpiece ideas?
A3. You can create a beautiful centerpiece using everyday or budget-friendly items. Fill an ironstone pitcher, a glass jar, or a galvanized tub with flowers from your yard, farmer’s market or grocery store. Candle light always adds ambiance with tapers, pillars or votives.
