Let me briefly review what the Thrifted Goodies series is all about. As I mentioned, Rachel, from The Antiqued Journey and I share thrift shopping related posts each and every month. Some are easy projects ideas and others are DIY craft projects with a few steps, but the star of the show every time is the nostalgic, vintage sheet music.

Vintage sheet music provides an air of nostalgic sophistication and is super versatile to use in many ways. It’s relatively inexpensive and provides such a unique and cultured look to many projects. I usually find the vintage sheet music around the book section, and it’s on my ongoing list since I use it all the time. I’ve paid as low as 25cents and as much as $2.00, depending on the size of the book, making it an extremely economical decor accent with limitless possibilities.

Thrifting Pro Tip: Always have a list of items you are looking for and interested in. For example, vintage sheet music that is aged and yellowed is always on my list.

This is a super easy project with just a handful of supplies. The key to this project is applying enough decoupage medium on the top to really seal the paper. Also, do not wash under running water and let your husband know as well. Ask me how I know this {wink}. They also make stylish trivets for candles, small plants and seasonal decor.

This was a project inspired for May Day, but can be used any time of year with the appropriate filler. Also they make a thoughtful gift with someone’s favorite flowers. This would be super cute hanging on a bottle of wine as a hostess gift.

This is one of the simplest applications in using thrifted sheet music in your home decor. Simply roll a few pages into scrolls and Voila! You have instant bowl fillers and vase accents. The scrolls can also be scattered on a table setting for an added special detail. For more table scape decor, a scroll on the top of everyone’s plate with a tag adorned with guest name as place cards.

Another simple treatment for sheet music is to simply stick it in a frame. It adds a layer of pretty sophistication to any vignette. I also find many great frames at thrift shops, making it a fairly affordable decor accent all around.

Around the holidays, I like to wrap small boxes as props for decor. Sheet music works perfectly as wrapping paper and added the great classical concert vibe for the Nutcracker Suite inspired tablescape.

Thrifting Pro Tip: Look at thrift store finds while thinking outside the box. Sometimes you like an item, but don’t need to use it for its intended purpose. Make it yours!

Setting pretty tables is a favorite around here so integrating sheet music in table settings was inevitable. Napkin rings always give a table design a finishing touch, and these vintage sheet music napkin rings are an easy solution.

Even easier than the napkin rings is this sheet music table runner. By simply laying sheet music pages down the center of the dining table you create a table runner full of movement and uniqueness. It’s a great alternative for a seafood boil instead of butcher paper or newspaper in the middle of the table. Since the sheet music is fairly inexpensive, it would not be a huge expense to discard it after the meal.

By the same manner, you could use sheet music pages as place mats under the dinner plates. It’s hard to tell by this image but the pages were taken from the center of the book so they were double wide where the book folds pages in half. {I apologize for the poor quality of this photograph since it was when I first started blogging over a decade ago}. Hopefully the concept comes through.

I have a new tabletop project using sheet music coming your way soon. I could think of a million projects using vintage, thrifted sheet music. It always provides a classic look!

This maple leaf banner with the letters spelling out “gather” has all the fall feels in a very neutral and subtle way, making it easy to adapt and mix with different decor styles. You can spell out any desired sentiment or simply leave the sheet music leaves plain if you prefer.

These ornaments are the most recent sheet music project, created for Christmas in July. I am super excited to use these in our family tree this year. They came together easily and have a high end feel to them.

Using sheet music as a backdrop with seasonal details provides instant art work to display for any given time of year. The sheet music can be attached to a canvas, clip board or inserted in a frame, depending on the looks you prefer.

Since sheet music offers a romantic feeling to it, it makes sense to use it for the St. Valentine’s holiday. Paper mache hearts covered in sheet music paper with decoupage medium and embellished with pretty ribbons make for sweet Valentine accents. They are perfect as a bowl filler or on top of a book stack or simply propped on a dresser or night stand as a sweet touch in a bedroom.

I also decoupaged Easter eggs using sheet music a gazillion years ago. I apologize, I do not have a tutorial for this exact project, but the steps are very similar to these {How to Decoupage Easter Eggs}. And even though these sheet music eggs were created many years ago, I still use them all the time. It’s a timeless look.

Thrifting Pro Tip: Make a list of items you would like to find while thrifting on your phone, and you will always have the list with you whenever you pop into a thrift. Update the list regularly as you find treasures and seek others. Have fun!

I hope this has inspired you to use thrifted sheet music in some manner. There are so many more ways to use it around your home. You could use it to line drawers or shelves applying a sealant on it for protection. Adding it to a frame is the easiest application. By adding seasonal touches creates instant holiday vibes super easy and super cheap.

I hope you can find sheet music in your local thrift store. If not, garage or estate sales might be another resource. Also, Etsy has an assortment of sheet music selections as well. I have included some other options in the shopping section for your convenience.

Thank you for being here today, and I hope the sheet music love is contagious. Please hop over and visit my thrifty friends Rachel at The Antiqued Journey and Wendy at WM Design House.
