time for pause

After all the hustle & bustle of the holiday season has passed and all the decorations have been but away and all our schedules & routines return to a somewhat normalized pace, I like to give my home & life time to pause.

Time for pause

My home and decor become sparse and barren in a good way.  It gives my mind and body time to relax and take a big breath of new life and opportunity in the year ahead.
Time for pause1
Cloches sit empty awaiting the next exciting thing they will capture and showcase.  They still look cohesive and put together since they are a collection in & of themselves.  You can see other cloche vignettes:  green jasperware; fall; dried flowers.

Time for pause2

The mantel sits patiently with a barren window box and empty candlesticks.  it’s a blank slate until I’m inspired to transition it to late winter decor.  I kept the feathery white wreath since it reminds me of snowy drifts.

The dining room sits in the middle of the house so we pass through it many times a day so I prefer to keep this room pretty uncluttered and balanced at all times to keep our minds at peace when we walk through this space repeatedly, multiple times per day.

A green bottle collection on the kitchen table sit empty waiting for fresh blooms.
You get the idea.

Slowly I’ll start tweaking things and adding details since I am definitely not a minimalist at heart but it’s good for my soul to have a moment of pause while I set intentions for the new year and try to organize my dreams and aspirations into attainable goals.

Time for pause6

I’ve been searching for the “perfect” planner for the year and I’m struggling to find exactly what I want.  I think what all my research has taught me is that there’s no such thing as a “perfect” planner so I’ll use one that comes close to fitting all my needs and make it {mine}.

  6. It is always good pause, take time to reflect give everything a fresh start for better results. Hopefully you get a good planner, I have been indecisive about it too and almost lost january to it!

  7. Everything in my house feels so empty after the holidays. But, with your encouragement, I’m going to flip the script and think of it as a small rest and time for reflection within the spaces. Love this approach!

  8. Hi Kanishka- finally just got a planner at target so wouldn’t spend too much energy on it. It’s working great and didn’t spend a fortune which did not want to do. good luck in your quest. xo- mj

  9. Beautiful post and I agree with your sentiments shared. Love the green bottles. I hope you will share tomorrow at Thursday Favorite Things!

  10. I feel as though I’m in a huge decorating rut. After all of the holiday decorations come down it’s like, “now what”. Other than tablescapes I’ve done little decorating and I’m enjoying the pause. Thank you for sharing with us this week at Celebrate Your Story and we hope you will join us again next week.
