Adding touches of sparkly silver, warm golds and stunning copper to a Thanksgiving table provides all the glow up of the season. Please come in, and let me share all the details on this Thanksgiving tablescape with mixed metals.
Mixing metals does not come naturally to me. Whether it’s jewelry or couture or decor I’ve had to purposely work at mixing metals. Growing up, it all had to match right? Forget that!! This table design shows how they can all play well together beautifully.

Details about the Thanksgiving Table with Mixed Metals
The Thanksgiving tablescape is ready to go for the main event with a mixture of metals, which normally would not be something I would set intentionally. BUT, I actually like how all the sparkle and glitz plays well together.
A little bit of gold details and some silver basics plus copper pieces come togteher in this table design.
Gold Pumpkins
It all began with the idea of placing gold pumpkins at each place setting. Spray painting some dollar tree pumpkins was a simple solution. It was pretty easy and inexpensive.
I deconstructed the DT pumpkins. The adornments that came with them were removed and a stem from branches were added. Plus a few leaves from the craft stash were added for further embellishment. Everything was spray painted gold together. The gold ties in with the gold trimmed glassware and china. You would never know that they looked like this before, right?
Stunning Silver
Then of course I have my sterling silverware and candelabras that I use for all my special tables. You can read the details about my sterling here {metals II – Sterling Silver}.
The classic silver pieces add a touch of elegance to the table amidst all the rustic organic Autumnal elements. As you all well know, the juxtaposition of rustic and refined gets.me.every.single.time.
Charming Copper
I was lucky enough to inherit my copper chargers from my parents and the copper double boiler was a gift from my in-laws after a trip to France. I used it as a center piece with lime light hydrangeas from the garden which have turned a beautiful burnt color with a few pheasant feathers. Thrifting is a great way to add more copper pieces to your collection {thrifted copper finds}.
Copper provides warm and rich undertones to the entire table design. I love the provincial vibes it brings to the party.
Closing Thoughts
I’m so happy this inadvertently came together, and I did not have to “force” myself to mix metals in an unnatural way. Hopefully this is a sign that it’s become easier, and I’ve become more comfortable with it. Loving that!
I included a Thanksgiving prayer at each place setting as place cards. On the back you can write a thankful message, which we share around the table during dinner as we break bread. If place cards are your thing, here‘s a compilation of other place cards I’ve used in the past.
This year it’s only the 4 main Masterpiece family members together. At first I was a bit sad not to have more family and friends with us. I considered volunteering to feed the poor in the city, but my family wanted none of that. They much prefer to be together at home, watching the parade and football, cooking together and enjoying each other. It gave me pause, since these days are few and numbered. I’m embracing the closeness of “just us” this year.
I’ve staged my server ware and other items I might need to make it easier on the big day when it’ll be super busy. I have a couple of older posts to help you be prepared and organized for the thanksgiving holiday.
I have to admit I’m actually looking forward to a relaxed and chill holiday since it’s “just us”. All the shopping is done and all we need to pick up on Wednesday is Mr. turkey and some chocolate | caramel apples. The local chocolatier makes some to die for and are a fan favorite around here, so in lieu of apple pie.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving surrounded by loved ones.
May our home be full of joy, may our hearts be knit with love, as we give our grateful thanks, for thy blessings from above.”
