Sweet Summer Berry Salad Recipe

berry salad

If you need a last minute dish for the 4th of July, this is a great option. I used strawberries and blueberries for my recipe but feel free to substitute your berries of choice like raspberries or blackberries etc. As I like to preach, make it yours. Design your berry salad the way you like to eat with ingredients your family enjoys.

There’s a specialty olive oil shoppe where we live, which also carries infused balsamic olive oil. Amphora has a wide variety of olive oils and vinegars, which Miss Masterpiece enjoys tasting. Last time we were downtown on a girl’s shopping trip, Miss M selected a cranberry pear balsamic vinegar.

Let me preface this by saying I am a food purest. I like my basic Mediterrenean extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar for most traditional recipes. But let me tell you this cranberry pear infused white balsamic vinegar is off the hook! It’s our go to whenever we serve fresh strawberries around here, adding the perfect sweetness and depth of flavor without being too syrupy. And here we are; it inspired this summer berry salad creation.

I created this berry salad using red strawberries, white marshmallows and blueberries as an inspired patriotic dish. Although, it can be enjoyed anytime berries are in season. It’s easy enough to be enjoyed anytime, but with festive vibes to make any occasion feel special.

Cooking Pro Tip: Like I stress in all recipes, the fresher your ingredients are, the better the end result of any dish.

Cooking Pro Tip: Always read a recipe all the way through before starting. Then re-read the recipe and assemble all your ingredients so you are fully prepared, knowing all the things you need (ingredients and tools included).

As I mentioned above you can use any berries you prefer. I chose the mixture of red and blue berries with marshmallows to create a colorful patriotic dessert. It’s delicious and fresh and sweet but certainly can be altered to your liking.

Also, I added the marshmallows for the white color category but they are certainly not necessary. I like the added sweetness and texture they add to the dish, which make the berry salad extra special. Certainly for a day to day dish, it’s not necessary, if you want to cut back on the sugar.

On the other hand, you can pair the sweet summer berry salad with other summer favorites like ice cream, gelato or sherbet, making it a super special summer treat.

Summer fruit is always delicious and with just some attention to detail it can elevate simple fruit salads to special fare. I hope this inspires you to create something delicious for your family and friends.

I hope to share more 4th of July patriotic goodness over the next couple of days. Some issues on my website caused me to run behind, but all is good now. I have more summer inspired content coming your way, and yes fall is knocking on the door. When I went to Joann’s Fabrics last week, I was greeted with pumpkins. Yup, it’s almost that crazy time of year. Stay tuned friends, and I am so happy you’re here with me.

I love these bamboo bowls, which are super light and stylish.

The boho vibes of these stainless floral bowls is everything.

I use my Wonki Ware bowls for salads like these.

Wooden servers are a great staple for entertainng.

I highly recommend the cranberry pear balsamic vinegar flavor.
