“life goes by pretty fast…”

In the infamous words of Ferris Bueller “if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
It’s a great line.  It was a great line twenty years ago when I saw the movie in the theatre & laughed my head off (PG13 here) and it’s a great line now.  Who would a thunk when I saw this at the age of 20 that it would come to mind when I’m thinking about how quickly my kids are growing up.  I registered Sebastion for 1st grade this week & they took his school picture during registration.  Brilliant!  I was able to supervise & make sure he looked every bit as adorable as he is.  Last year his picture was taken during a random school day & although I asked him to put his sweater on, untuck the collar, smile normal (you know those goofy smiles kids get) when they took his picture, none of it happened.  I’m sure all he heard was blah, blah, blah or yada, yada, yada for all you Seinfeld fans out there and after reading my previous sentence I can understand why.  Anyway, he didn’t look exactly how I wanted but he was still my sweet, handsome Sebi.  Here’s a pose from the morning before registration this year; notice the freshly groomed hair, nice sweater, etc. much better in mommy terms.

Of course no picture of one child can be taken around here without hurting the other one’s  feelings getting hurt, so here is Miss Lexi on said morning.  notice the pose, monkey see, monkey do.

I can’t believe how quickly the summer went by, I can’t believe the new school year starts next week, I can’t believe Sebastian starts 1st grade, I can’t believe Lexi has only one more year left in preschool, I can’t believe we’re finally settled in the home we want, I can’t believe how fortunate I am to have such an amazing life.  I don’t want to miss any of this and that’s why I take these silly pictures, to remember all the silly moments in between all the super important milestones.

The only thing I do believe, is that Matt is the reason I’m on this journey & I am one lucky lady.
