Inspiration for the Daisy Inspired Tablescape
Loves me, loves me not, loves me, loves me not …
As previously mentioned, daisies are one of my favorite flowers. In fact we go way back. Our wedding and engagement had a daisy theme intertwined here and there. My nosegay bouquet and headpiece had cream roses BUT daisies were included in the mothers’ bouquets, church arrangements, wedding cake and basket display.

Our engagement party had a daisy theme (there are 2 daisies, which have faded over time in the circle of framed invitation above) while our wedding cake had a daisy flower motif on the second tier down (I designed the cake myself inspired by Martha Stewart). Also the daisy flower arrangements hanging in the background were from the church pews at the ceremony, which followed us all the way to the reception and were strategically placed by someone. I don’t know who, but I do remember seeing the flowers draped on our limo when we left the church. Someone did their job well that day, and I am thankful for it.

MJ Personal Fun Fact:
My mom’s name was Margarita, which means daisy in Spanish. Although I lost her at the tender age of 17, I do feel like she was with me on my wedding day and the daisy flowers was one small representation of that feeling.
Details of the Oopsie Daisy Inspired Tablescape
Daisies are obviously near and dear to me and they are represented on this table in different ways. Notice I don’t have any daisy dishes, glassware, linens etc. Just fresh flowers, daisy printables, baubles and food bites simply accentuate the theme. The colors palette in yellow and white further reinforce the theme.

Plate Stack
The plate stack is layered with a casual feel since daisies are a modest flower. The galvanized pieces are relaxed and the gingham napkins add a touch of cozy. Coordinating complimentary patterns is always a win and the striped menu plays off the checkered napkin here.

- Galvanized Charger {Hobby Lobby}
- Open Kitchen Black Bistro Dinner Plate {Williams-Sonoma}
- Caravan Yellow/Gray Linen Gingham Napkins {Whim House}
- Galvanized Tub {Crate & Barrel}
- Garlic Cheese Loaf Wrapped in Parchment {Trader Joe’s}
- Felt Daisy Flower {Local Flower Shop Liquidation Sale}
- Printable Daisy Menu {DIY}

The galvanized tubs lend themselves for the charcuterie appetizer in a very laissez-faire manner. The plate stack is topped with a felted flower I scored at a liquidation sale a few years ago. I would never have picked them up except they were ridiculously reduced in price and they were daisies after all…..

MJ Insider Table Styling Tip:
Let something that inspires guide you to plan, design and set an intentional and thoughtful table for your family and guests. You don’t necessarily need “themed” tabletop pieces, but rather lean into colors, patterns and textures to evoke the theme. This makes basic dish ware more versatile and extends their worth.

Place Setting
The place setting details are mismatched with intention. The glassware is all thrifted. The silverware includes our everyday utensils from my childhood, which I absolutely love and would give anything to replace some pieces, but all my searches have come up empty. In addition the appetizer forks are from the Hearth & Hand with Magnolia collection and includes assorted styles on each handle.

- Silverware {inherited}
- Appetizer Fork {Hearth & Hand with Magnolia @ Target}
- Anchor Hocking Water Glass {thrifted}
- Silver Trimmed Goblet {thrifted}
- Place Card {DIY}

None of the tabletop pieces are fancy, but they are still stylish in a very understated manner. The look is relaxed, but yet perky just like a pretty daisy.

Centerpiece
Different types of flowers are layered in the center piece from fresh cut blooms, to potted flowers to felted pieces to accentuate the daisy inspired tablescape. The linens also have floral embroidery details to reflect the daisy motif. Plus the pewter pieces mirror the galvanized pieces in the plate stack, keeping the color palette muted with just the pops of yellow.

- Chartreuse Trimmed Table Topper {thrifted}
- Embroidered Handkerchiefs {thrifted}
- Pewter Plates, Candlesticks and Sugar Bowl {thrifted}
- Vintage Yellow Enamel Coffee Pot {Whim House }
- Fresh Florals {Trader Joe’s}

The center piece is layered with intention to create interest, contrast and depth. Although all the pieces appear scattered in a haphazard manner they were all placed with intention. The centerpiece is not symmetrical yet it’s balanced, which lends itself to a relaxed setting.

Extra Details for an Extra Special Table Setting
You know the saying, the devil is in the details, which I’m still not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. Either way, the point is that details are important. FAQs – Daisy Inspired Table
Q1. How do I make inexpensive grocery store daisies look chic?
A1. Mason jars are a great vase option for daisies or individual bud vases are a delicate and sophisticated display. Rustic or vintage vessels, like the yellow enamel coffee pot used here, pair nicely with the simplicity of lovely daisies. Raffia, twine or ribbon wrapped around simple containers add a special touch.
Q2. How can I create a cohesive look with my place settings?
A2. The key to a polished table design is to layer, mix and match with intention. Start with a foundation like a tablecloth or table runner and build from there. Place mats and plate chargers add an attention to detail plus decorative plates and glassware include an air of festivity. Use patterns and textures to create interest and use finishing touches like wrapping silverware in decorative ribbons or personalized place cards.
Q3. Do I need a theme to set a festive summer table?
A3. Absolutely not! A theme helps guide a table styling but you can let colors, patterns and style guide you as well. Setting a casual table with checks, enamelware and galvanized pieces is perfect for summer. A more elegant table can be set using rattan and layered lighting. Use what you own and like, making it yours!
Q4. For what occasions can I use a daisy theme?
A4. A daisy theme is versatile and can be used for birthdays, engagements, bridal and baby showers, Mother’s Day brunch plus more. It can also be used for less focused occasions like summer BBQs or casual dinner party.
Q5. What can I use to accent a daisy themed tablescape?
A5. Using a yellow and white color palette is an easy way to compliment the daisy theme. Key patterns like gingham, stripes, checks and polka dots are also great choices for a daisy table. Simple and cozy are the way to go with daisies.
