crown napkin rings DIY
Hello friends.?Today I am sharing how to make your own crown napkin rings DIY.?I don’t know about you, but I love a good crown motif.?I created these napkin rings with Dollar Tree supplies, and they are fairly simple to put together.?Come on in and let me show you how to make your own.?

I first shared these crown napkins rings on my {Three Kings Epiphany table design}, which you hopefully saw last week.?If not, you can simply follow the link to see the all details on the table, including these fabulous napkin rings.

These did not take long to make, and I can see using them in other ways besides napkin rings.?I can’t wait to share them around the house throughout the year in other projects.

I’ve been wanting to make these napkin rings for awhile, but I kept putting the project off, placing it on the back burner of my craft list.?The Three Kings table design was the perfect opportunity and inspiration to create some beautiful crown napkin rings.?The fact I made them myself makes it all that more gratifying.?Do you like to make your own crafts and decor??Oh, good, then I think you will enjoy this.

I had this metal ribbon from the Dollar Tree, which I used in this project {Wakefield garden pottery knock off}.?The rest of the ribbon sat in my craft area staring at me until I had that “aha” moment to make crown napkin rings.?Does that happen to you??

how to create your own crown napkin rings DIY
I only had enough of one style of ribbon to created 4 napkins rings.?If I can get my hands on more of the same style of ribbon, I will make a few more I think.
Supplies:

- 2 Styles of Metal Ribbon
- Clear Plastic Shower Curtain Rings
Tools:
- Hot Glue Gun
- Glue Sticks
- Heavy Duty Scissors
- Tape Measure
- Silicon Finger Protectors (optional, highly recommended)

Directions:
- Assemble all your supplies and tools
- Measure the circumference of shower curtain ring
- Cut the metal ribbon to the circumference size
- Hot glue metal ribbon to shower curtain ring, starting at the back and working around the whole ring to meet up at the back again fully enclosing plastic ring
- Make sure edge of ribbon is flush to edge of ring
- Glue another decorative metal ribbon overlapping the edge sitting on hot glue as to disguise and cover it up
- Press the metal ribbon tightly onto the ring to adhere (this is where the silicone tips are gold!)
- Viola!?Enjoy on your next table styling

tips on creating your own crown napkin rings DIY
I found my metal ribbon at the Dollar Tree last spring, and unfortunately I have not been able to find it again.?I check every time I go, because it’s a great product, and I can think of a million ways to use it.?I’m kicking myself for not buying more at the time, but who knew??I found some similar types on Amazon here, here and here.

Also, my good friend Donna from an Organized Season had recommended the silicone finger tips when I posted about burning my fingers on a different project.?I listened, but didn’t fully commit right away.?Fast forward to this project.?First time using the silicone finger tips on a project.?Game Changer!!!?Thank you Donna!?Not only did it prevent me from burning my fingers, but it allowed me to grip and press on my project better, forming a better adhesion.?These are the ones I used.?

The first crown napkin ring I created I glued the metal ribbon centered on the plastic ring.?Then when I attached the 2nd metal ribbon just overlapping on the edge, I realized some of the glue was visible.?In order to avoid this, I started glueing the first ribbon flush to the edge of the ring, which is then overlapped with the 2nd ribbon, hiding any glue residue.?

The plastic shower rings create a great base for the napkin rings and my wheels are already turning for future projects.?I hope you enjoyed this fairly simple DIY, creating a great stately accent piece for your home.?

Really beautiful, MaryJo. Such a great idea!
I love your crown napkin rings! I’ve never seen metal ribbon, but I wonder if you could get a similar effect by spray-painting fabric ribbons similar in appearance to the metal ones, using metallic spray paint???
Your napkin rings are fabulous! I have never seen that metal ribbon at my Dollar Tree but I’ll be on the look out from now on! Aren’t you glad you got those silicone finger protectors! They’re the best! I use mine all the time! Happy Day!
Thanks so much Donna. I’m so happy you liked them. Yes I keep looking for that ribbon & I have not seen it again. Thanks for the tip on the silicone fingers. XO- MJ
Bravo MaryJo! I am in love with these napkin rings. You just gave me so many ideas… I actually picked up some wire ribbon like this from a specialty store online, and had an idea at the time. By the time it came, I forgot my project, and then was like hmm… I need to write this stuff down, it just doesn’t stick like it used to. 🙁 Hope you have a wonderful week!
Oh no! I hope you remember. Either way I’m sure you’ll create something fabulous with it. Can’t wait to see! XO- MJ
