eye-catching ways to add moss to your tabletop

I have said it before & I will surely say it again, I love all things moss.

For Easter and around spring time I incorporate moss into my table settings and I wanted to share some of the different things you can do.

You can see I always incorporate moss.

This year I had a moss runner, large moss eggs & moss napkin rings.

I made all these items myself, and although moss is messy to work with I always love the end result and I use the items over and over again.

The moss runner grounds the table and allows for a footprint for the centerpiece.

I made the runner out of sheets of moss that have a mesh liner.  They are about 17″x17″ so i used 2 for my runner.  I cut a piece of burlap slightly larger than the moss pieces and laid the moss on the burlap.  the mesh liner just grips the burlap and they have not moved or separated since I assembled it several years ago.  I use it on my dining room table throughout spring into summer every year.

This year I made the large moss eggs that sit on top of the cast iron urns.  I used an egg form, hot glue and moss from the craft store.

You simply keep adding moss to the form with the hot glue until it’s totally covered.  At the end you might have little holes here and there, just simply fill them in with little pieces of loose moss.  This is a messy job but not necessarily difficult.

I usually have moss balls in my urns this time of year, which could easily be made the same way.  You can find the styrofoam spheres at any craft store and use that as your form.

I happen to find these in the Target dollar bin section, which immediately gave me the light bulb idea for this project. I wasn’t looking for them but  they were the perfect size for my cast iron urns.  Sometimes it’s just meant to be.

I considered decorating the eggs further with twine and maybe an embellishment but alas time was not my friend so I just left them plain for this year.  Sometimes less is more.  Maybe next year I can add another layer of detail or maybe I’ll want them just as they are.

And last but not least remember the sneak peak I gave your here?  Yup, little Miss Masterpiece and I made these moss napkin rings.  For this I used the same technique I used here when I made the sheet music napkin rings.

I bought a roll of moss ribbon and glued it to the toilet paper roll form.  I used glued dot lines to adhere the moss ribbon to the cardboard and one roll was exactly enough to make the six napkin rings we used here.  I found the moss roll at joann‘s.
