Don’t forget about finishing details. What might seem like a small, insignificant detail can elevate a decor styling to a whole new level. A simple ribbon or vintage handkerchief tucked here or there gives a vignette a refined finishing touch. Sometimes these small touches make a world of difference and change the feel of the decor arrangement.

At a bare minimum, all an entryway needs is a hero piece (console, bench, etc.), a mirror and floor covering. A console or bench can catch things like keys, mail etc. A mirror is pretty and practical, while a rug or mat grounds the space and properly maintains a high traffic area.

Be mindful of the walls whether painted, paneled or wall papered and only bring in fumishings that are either practical or pretty, which fits the space. The botanical pieces today are simply for the pretty factor to make this space a part of the rest of the house with plenty of room to hang a coat, place keys or check yourself out in the mirror.

Double Sided for the Win
The DIY botanical garland has a two sided design by design (literally and figuratively). The finished backside provides a cleaner and more professional look, but beyond that it serves double duty. You can use the garland showing the decorative paper for a very different look, basically creating two garlands for the price of one. Here you can see the garland displayed with the backside and layered with other pieces, adding texture and movement.
If the garland hangs anywhere where the backside is visible it creates a pretty look on the back. For example, if the banner is draped in an opening like a doorway or room header it will still look pretty from the other side. Also, if the garland is hung on a reflective surface like a mirror or glass, the reflection will add a special touch. Mirrors are a great interior design weapon, which reflect light and make a space feel bigger. The mirror here reflects the backside of the banner creating additional depth and interest. Reversibility equals versatility.
