a transitional tablescape

I feel Fall approaching.  Do you?  It’s still pretty warm with high temps around here, but there’s little signs of the seasonal transition so I set the table with some Summer vibes but also some Fall feels. Come check out my transitional tablescape.

The mornings are cooler.  The evenings get dark earlier.  Foliage and flowers are turning colors.  Slowly but surely Fall is upon us, and I am ready for it!  BUT the temps are still in the 80s and 90s around here.

neutral elements let stars of the show shine

The vintage ball jars with the dried Billy balls are a happy color combination, which feels summery, but the apples are a nod to the autumnal harvest.  All the other elements are in a neutral color palette between whites, grays and silver, allowing the apples, ball jars and Billy balls to pop and be the stars of the show.

The plate stack consists of a vintage silver tray, Williams Sonoma bistro plate, Wonki Ware accent plate, topped with my parent’s silver compote.

The silver trays|chargers were all thrift finds and are assorted as are all the mismatched candlesticks plus the napkins rings are also mixed styles.  On top of the bistro dinner plates are accent|salad plates from a South African manufacturer called Wonki Ware and are a current obsession of mine.  The plates all have different patterns, which are gorgeous and super fun.  I love to mix and match.

To finish the plate stack are beautiful silver compotes, which were my parents.   The flatware {with the exception of the appetizer fork, which is Hearth & Hand with Magnolia} was also my parents along with the glassware.  I love using all my parent’s stuff and I just wish they were here to share it with me.  I honor their memory every.single.time I use their wonderful wares.

as summer fades fall smiles upon us

There a few summer related projects left on my to-do list, which I want to complete before the season is over. BUT I am super excited to start fluffing for Fall.  How about you?  Are you ready for a seasonal flip? 

We don’t have plans for the Labor Day weekend so we will be staying home.  I hope to get to some of my Fall bins and start organizing my Autumnal game plan.

I have lots of ideas floating in my head, tons of pins saved, many mental notes made but I need to put them on paper and organize myself.  Anyone else with me?  I tend to throw caution to the wind, and just run with it, but I want to be more deliberate in my process so I can share better with you here.

And the count down begins….. 3 weeks or 21 days until the “official” first day of Fall.  On your marks, get set, GO!

 

Fall is my favorite season so I am more than ready, but it also makes me sad to see summer go with it’s lazy schedules and fun activities and lush gardens. This transitional tablescape helps bridge the gap and ease the transition.
