12 Fabulous Ideas for Easter Sunday Appetizers

12 Easter appetizers

I am hosting Easter at home this year so I have been brain storming menu ideas. Our main meal remains basically the same from year to year, but it’s the appetizers and desserts I change up for some excitement. I hope this helps you plan your Easter menu.

Some of these ideas work best as appetizers served before everyone sits down at the table. I usually set up appetizers either on the kitchen table or on a kitchen counter. You could also place them on a coffee table or side console. It all depends on where you gather and how you entertain.

Other appetizer options lend themselves to be served sitting down at the Easter table as a starter to the meal. Once again do what works best for your lifestyle and how you entertain with your family and friends.

This is a fun way to jazz up deviled eggs. Do not get me wrong, I love deviled eggs as much as the next guy, but by simply adding a garnishment board it brings them to another level.

I use garnishments that appeal to me and my family, but once again use what you and your people like. Deviled egg platters are a fabulous serving option. Here is a super cute piece by Mud Pie or this speckled egg version.

This is such a pretty appetizers and super decadent. You can serve them as hors d’oeuvre before the meal. You can also arrange 2 or 3 on a bed of mixed greens to serve as a starter at the table.

They look so pretty on this pedestal platter. I like to serve appetizers in different serving pieces to create interest. Adding height is a great way to differentiate serving pieces. I love these pedestal plates for spring entertaining; Martha Stewart here and I love the vintage vibes here.

This is a favorite of mine, and I serve it most Easter dinners. My mom served it all the time at dinner parties, and now I enjoy serving it to my family and friends.

Once again you can serve it at the dining table or you can serve it in individual cups at the appetizer table. Since the soup is served at room temperature, there’s no worry for it to be or remain warm. These cups are similar to the ones I use.

The quintessential tea sandwich to me is the cucumber sandwich. It’s so refreshing and bright, making it perfect for a spring holiday.

tea sandwich ideas – perfect for the entertaining season

These sandwiches are fairly simple to assemble, but look and taste like they might be otherwise.

Smoked salmon tea sandwiches are also a great spring inspired faire in my opinion. You can make these as closed sandwiches with two pieces of bread, or you can leave them open faced, depending on your preference.

A fun part about tea sandwiches is that you can serve them in various shapes. This makes them super pretty and interesting. Remember we eat with our eyes first. Your can find the recipe here.

I created this Spanish inspired version of a tea sandwich as a nod to my father’s side of the family. My father was born in Spain, but migrated as a young child with my grandparents to Uruguay, which is where I was born.

The sandwich contains Serrano Ham and Manchego Cheese, spread with quince paste. It’s so yum. Tiered serving trays are a great option when you serve a variety of finger sandwiches. This is a great basic option and I really like this one.

Honey and cheese is a wonderful combination and this honeycomb cheesy cracker appetizer idea elevates it to a new level.

Homemade cheese crackers slathered with honey. Sounds yummy right? It’s truly scrumptious. The yin & yang of sweet and salty gets me every time. If you don’t know where to find honeycomb, here’s an option.

I make Caprese salad very frequently, especially in the summer months when we have tomatoes growing in the garden. Not only do I make it frequently, but I also make several iterations.

On that note, you can serve little caprese skewers at the appetizer table or you can serve beautiful sliced heirloom tomatoes with fresh mozzarella on individual salad plates at the table. Either option is super fresh and delicious.

There’s nothing better than starting a great meal with a fresh and light salad. It serves as a palette cleanser and sets the stage for the fabulous entree.

The lemon vinaigrette dressing pairs well with the peppery arugula leaves, while the toasted pine nuts and the sharp parmesan cheese add great layers of flavor and texture. It’s a bright splash of flavor in every bite.

If you want a salad with a little more oomph, but still bright and light this might be the ticket for you. Butter lettuce is my favorite variety of lettuce, which we also grow in the garden.

This salad has crunch and tenderness plus sweetness with acidity. All the flavor and textures makes for a complex dish with just a few ingredients.

Prosciutto and melon is a classic combination. It is a very fresh and versatile food to serve, which can be presented in a variety of ways.

Once again it can be served as a started at the table as pictured above. It can also be done in a skewered cube format for an appetizer spread.

I understand this might not be for everyone, but we serve a caviar station at most special holidays and celebrations. If you are so inclined there are some good pointers in this post which you might find helpful if you’re a caviar fan.

If you’ve never tried caviar, this might help you get started with some simple tips.

Ok, I don’t know about you, but I am hungry. lol. But seriously, did any of these appetizer ideas speak to you? I hope so. If you have other ideas that you think I might want to try, please let me know in the comments below.

The weather has been absolutely beautiful and spring like around here lately, which is such a mood booster. I think we might be done with the rain for the most part, and it’s time to start thinking about outdoor projects! Happy Dance. Until next time, friends.
