The foyer or entryway in your home is the first impression to the outside world. First impressions are important and having a festive, inviting setting puts your guests at ease and in a jovial mood as they enter your home. When folks walk through your front door into your home they are immediately in “your” space. Festive seasonal decor keeps your home fresh and current. Hearts and more hearts set the tone for the holiday of love vignette.

Valentine’s Day is the main theme of the vignette with a heart motif as the focus. Different hearts are staggered with varied heights and sizes, which move the eye through the vignette, maintaining interest. The vignette is heart forward and doesn’t lean into pink or red since it’s not my particular style. Neutrals are more my jam with a lot of green sprinkled in. Many if not most of the hearts are actually homespun accents, which you can find the step by step tutorials at the following links below.

When decor vignettes are layered with textures, colors and scale it creates movement and interest. A decor vignette should tell a story; the story of love is front and center here.

A moss heart wreath hangs on the mirror to create a backdrop which coordinates with the heart motif. This was a DIY created many moons ago, and I use it every year. It has three of my loves, including moss, cream roses and velvet ribbon.

The bombé chest sets the foundation with a tray as the stage for the vignette. A tray is a great decorator tool to coral decor. The tray forms an orderly space for the decor pieces to tell a story.

The topiaries are the filler of the show here. There’s a variety of sizes, materials and styles to create interest, but they all compliment each other to create a cohesive look.

The delicate vintage plates, sheet music accents, and dried roses all add subtle touches to compliment the feels of the vignette. They add another layer of pretty without stealing the limelight from the stars of the show.

One of my favorite finishing touches in home decor are ribbons. Either a bow or a loose knot or softly draped over anything always adds warmth and charm. There are different ribbons scattered around this styling and although they are not matching they still compliment the display.

Valentine’s Day lives here in the foyer welcoming guests with seasonal intention, but the rest of the house sits in calm, neutral winter decor.

The living room mantel is set with neutral and natural winter decor, which I shared in the lantern glow-up post the other day.

The dining room table sits with the basic decor it contains the majority of the year, in between seasonal and holiday events. The large Wonki Ware bowl with assorted moss balls gives me all the feels and never gets old.

A great piece to decorate for the seasons and holidays is this large birdcage I found at Tuesday Morning a million years ago. A collection of vintage tins and books are sprinkled with pine cones. I’m loving this look.

Holiday decor, in this case Valentine’s Day, doesn’t have to take over your entire home. Just some welcoming touches sets the intention.
