Traditional Orange & Brown Thanksgiving Table

The faux Pumpkin floral arrangement I shared last week is the star of the show for the table styling. From there, traditional colors of the season of brown and orange accent the table. Rustic and vintage touches sprinkled through the table add a bit of Masterpiece style as usual.

The faux Pumpkin floral arrangement is the main inspiration behind the table and sets the tone. The faux leather suede ribbon was also a muse for the centerpiece. I fell in love with this ribbon when I saw it last year and used it for a fabulous bow which you can see here {It’s in the Details Halloween Outdoor Decor}. The traditional colors are an unexpected juxtaposition to the rustic and vintage touches. It makes for a more relaxed and comfortable table than an uber stuffy traditional table setting. The colors are traditional albeit in moody hues.

Nothing is new on this table styling, rather existing table top pieces and seasonal decor are dressed up and styled in a different way. Although the pumpkin floral arrangement is a recent DIY, it was assembled with existing supplies; a faux pumpkin and dried florals were simply repurposed. Challenge yourself to up-cycle and reuse what you already have in new ways. It’s extremely gratifying and so much fun.

Thanksgiving is centered around the meal more than any other holiday. This breaking bread tradition deserves a special table arrangement. And here we are. The table is layered and styled with intention and purpose to honor the celebration.

Sideboards and console tables are perfect for serving pieces and pretty seasonal accents. Thanksgiving is composed of many dishes and it’s handy t have them at the ready. Another idea is to make your sideboard a beverage station or dessert spread. Do what works for your family and how you celebrate.

Thanksgiving is the obvious theme here, but beyond that, is the color pallet and the row of pumpkins. The name of the game for the table is pumpkins upon pumpkins, which is all about the Thanksgiving holiday. Whatever theme you choose, make sure it’s front and center, with a cohesive composition. Use what you already own, whether it’s dish-ware, seasonal accents, candle holders, etc. If you prefer to use the same items again and again, it creates a tradition, which I am all about. For example, we use the Johnson Brothers Barnyard Plates every year and the copper chargers most times as well. I look forward to bringing out these turkey plates since they were my parents and it’s the only time of year we use them. In a way it brings them to our table and it makes me happy. From there, I like to mix it up and create a new Thanksgiving experience. That being said, I seldom buy something new for our table. Instead I reuse and repurpose what we already own in a new and novel way. Have fun and make it yours.

Thanksgiving deserves all the fancy stuff. I know hand washing china, crystal and silver is not at the top of anyone’s list, but it’s worth indulging on special occasions. Pulling out the wedding china and all the stuff every so often is fun! Don’t save the good stuff for that “special” day, but rather make your celebration special today. Letting all these dishes simply sit in a cabinet is no fun. If you have grandma Rose’s china, by all means bring it out to play. By using some refinery you immediately elevate the meal and occasion. We all deserve a touch of the special stuff.

Creating your own decor and table accents creates a charming homespun atmosphere which is unique and has your personal style. Besides adding character, DIY pieces tend to be more economical than newly bought options. Here the place cards, centerpiece floral arrangement and some pumpkins are home crafted creations.

I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving. Miss M, my mini me, will be home from college and many of our holiday traditions will commence. We are deep frying our turkey for the second year in a row. I was apprehensive of the whole process last year, but it worked out beautifully. For years we roasted our turkey and Mr. M tried spatchcocking it a few years. He never seems satisfied with the turkey though and deep frying seems to have done the trick for him.
