Thrift Items for a New Year’s Celebration
Thrift stores are a great resource for scoring unique and budget friendly decor and party accessories. Look for festive pieces, cozy touches and glitzy serving and entertaining ware.

Glassware
Bubbles and festive beverages always flow during New Year’s eve. Fabulous vintage glassware can be found frequently at thrifts. Depending on how big the crowd you can maybe provide a different shaped glass for every guest or you can find a punch bowl set as a unique focal point. Pretty and practical pieces add function and fancy to any festivity.

Champagne & Ice Buckets
Drink-ware accessories go hand in hand with the festive beverages. Unique vintage and retro champagne and ice buckets add a layer of special, which can be used beyond chilling a bottle of bubbles. Don’t save the buckets just for the bottles and ice only, tucking festive horns and noisemakers into a vintage bucket adds a layer of fun.

Decorative Trays
Trays can be used in so many ways from corralling drinkware to passing out hors d’oeuvres to displaying fun decor and so much more. Thrift stores have a plethora of different trays from silver, wood, metal, etc. which can coordinate with many different looks and styles.

Vases, Urns, Containers and more
Containers of all sorts whether glass, metal, ceramic etc. can be used as a festive centerpiece or a focal accent decor piece. Using unusual pieces like a champagne bucket or apothecary jar for a floral arrangement creates a display full of character and charisma which is perfect for a New Year’s celebration.
Candle Holders
Candles create wonderful ambience and festive vibes. Candle sticks, votives, hurricanes and more are in abundance at thrift stores to create the perfect mood for a magical soiree. The sparkle of candles adds to the festive mood of New Years.
Frames
All the fabulous fun can become fabulous memories with a photo booth. Vintage frames are perfect props for a unique fun filled photo station. Smaller frames can be used for individual shots and grand scale frames are perfect for group photos. As a bonus you can hang a thrifted blanket or tablecloth in the background as a backdrop.

Thrifting Pro Tip: Look at the potential of an item beyond its current state or condition. Items can be altered, up-cycled and recreated with TLC, elevating them to a trend forward piece.
Motifs to Look for New Year’s Vibes
Clocks
Time is turning towards the new year and clocks are always a great muse for a New Year’s celebration. Whether functioning or not, clocks can be used as decor accents, Clock faces and unique time pieces can be scattered about as a reminder for the upcoming strike of midnight.
Stars
Shiny and bright stars are great reminders of the magic of the season. Look for accents with star motifs and use these starry pieces as decor accents. The craft section at thrift stores is a gold mine. These unexpected items can be used in unique ways.

Bells
Ringing in the new year is a classic reference, which never goes out of style. Bells add another sensory element with wonderful sounds, which amps the festive vibes and makes for an interactive experience. Use bells on the front door or hang bells from a chandelier or add small bells to everyone’s glassware as a charm. The possibilities are endless.

Thrifting Pro Tip: Look at thrift store finds while thinking outside the box.Sometimes you like an item, but don’t need to use it for its intended purpose. Make it yours
