Inspiration Behind the Super Easy Wood Agate Charm Garland
The inspiration behind this project is the agate charm. I picked this agate necklace up on a girls’ weekend last fall, which I shared here {how to assemble a thoughtful & beautiful gift basket}. I did not intend to use it as a necklace when I bought it. Actually, as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to make a wood garland with it.
I had seen wood garlands with agate charms at a local decor shop, and I always admired them, but the price tag not so much. As soon as I saw this necklace in a little booth at the apple farm, a light bulb went off. And here we are.
How to Make a Super Easy Wood Garland with an Agate Charm & Jute Tassel
On one of my Dollar Tree excursions I spied this wood bead strand. How great is this? It made this project that much easier and faster. At $1.25, I actually should have grabbed more since I can think of a few other projects. Hopefully they will have more next time I pop in.

Tips & Tricks for Making a Super Easy Wood Garland
This project is so easy and fast to create there really are no tricks or short cuts to share. I would say finding the beaded wood garland at the Dollar Tree is the biggest hack. Although, stringing wood beads is not necessarily difficulty, it does require and extra step and time I did not have to account for. I recommend looking for these puppies next time you visit a dollar store.
Also as I mentioned before, you don’t have to use an agate charm. Use whatever accent piece speaks to you. Oyster shells, metal charms and sea glass are other popular items I’ve seen on wood garlands.
To finish off the other end of the garland I created the jute tassel. I chose jute because I love the rustic feel and it matched the agate tone well. You can use other materials for different color and texture choices. You can use yarn or thin cord or thick string. Like I like to say, make it yours. There is no right or wrong way just your way. I am simply here to show you the mechanics and inspiration behind the project.
How to Style your Wood Garland Decor Accent
Wood bead garlands are a super versatile piece of decor. It’s a great accent piece to add to any decor vignette. Seasonal vignettes keep interior spaces fresh and updated. Sea shells are one of my go to decorations this time of year.
These beaded garlands also look great around any type of bottle or jar. This would be great accent piece to add as a hostess gift around a bottle of wine or champagne to bring to a friend’s house. You can also add them to a vase with flowers as a gift.
Right now I have the garland on the front foyer Bombay chest with some farmer’s market fresh flowers. I will be transitioning the foyer decor to more summer focused pieces shortly so make sure to come back soon.

The monochromatic color scheme allows it to be a versatile piece that can compliment a diverse amount of decor pieces and styles. Also the rustic vibes coordinate with my style, giving it a bit of a boho feels. Make your bead garland using materials that compliment your decor so it integrates into your interior spaces easily.
