I love metals. Silver, galvanized, cast iron, enamel, etc., etc…. you name it.
Last fall I published a post about copper {you can read it here} and it got me thinking I should spotlight each of the metals that makes my heart skip a beat.
At the forefront lays silverplate.
It’s my all time favorite. Hands down.
So this month that’s what I’m talking about.
I love it shiny.
I love it tarnished.
I love to use it to entertain.
I use it for practical uses.
I use it to organize.
I use it just as pretty!
I use it ‘cuz it makes me smile.
I’ve accumulated quite a collection and most of it is from thrifting & estate sales.
And no matter how much I have, if a piece catches my eye~ chances are it will come home w/ me.
I have quite a few trays & I use them for a gazillion purposes.
I inherited quite a few trays from my parents that I mainly use to entertain & decorate, but many of the other trays I have accumulated through the years have daily purposes.
In the kitchen a tray corrals all my utensils by the stove.
I actually bought this tray from Pottery Barn ages ago before I started thrifting regularly.
Another one sits on the bar.
I have grown to love the footed trays. Of course that adds to the price tag, but it’s worth it for the charm it adds.
Another footed tray in the master bedroom showcases some white milk glass.
See what I mean about those feet? love!
Also in the master bedroom I have a few silverplate items that help me keep organized.
A simple round tray houses all my scents.
I love when organization is pretty.
A silverplate dip platter holds some of my costume jewelry.
It keeps this accessible & fun.
Along with trays I have also accumulated quite a few candlesticks.
This is only a few, but they serve so many purposes from tablescapes to vignettes to ambiance…
This tiered server was a great find I bought back in my consigning days to resell & when the time came I could not part with it.
Chafing dishes are great vessels to use for plants and seasonal decor.
In the family room coffee table I use a silverplate ice bucket for greenery & a bowl keeps the remote in place so it doesn’t go missing.
Function & practicality meet charm & timelessness.
{please ignore the stack of board games in the background which is on my list to purge. keeping it real here.}

You can see some old posts showcasing some uses of silverplate here & here.
Happy Collecting!
