Late summer early fall tablescape

Labor Day weekend is around the corner signaling the end of summer and turning the page onto autumn.  So of course I set the table, balancing this transition between the seasons.

I used leaf plates as a nod to fall but they are in a summery green color palette.  The additional crisp white dishes and server-ware keep the table neutral and balanced.

The centerpiece{s} are all organic elements I have collected here and there.  The sponge mushrooms and bunch of dried Bruina I recently picked up at terrain.

You all remember my fascination with mushrooms, right?

Terrain is one of my all time favorite stores, which fills me with so much inspiration.every.single.time.  I always want to take everything home with me; the large cone flower I picked up a couple of years ago at terrain as well and it dried beautifully.

The pods in the small cast iron urn and place settings are from my neighbors’ magnolia trees.  Yes I forage wherever I am- whenever.  And yes, my kids make fun of me.  Keep in mind the pods were on the ground | lawn already, I did not pluck anything from the trees.

My kids have been in school for 3 weeks already and the weather has started to dip slightly, which is weird for us this early but it really feels like fall around here.  I’m ready to bring our my fall bins and start decorating for the new season BUT I’m still enjoying veggies from the garden and my blooms outside are still going strong.

I know we have so many different climates in this great country of ours so everyone is at a different stage of late summer and fall anticipation, which makes sharing all our ideas and projects so inspiring.

I have to admit I’m ready to hang up my tank tops for sweaters and start baking with the fabulous spices of fall and cook up some stews & soups, spending more time inside my home than outside.

What stage do you find yourself?  I have a few projects brewing that I hope to share soon.Late summer early fall tablescape9
Here’s an early fall tablescape from last year for a little bit more inspiration.

  1. What a beautiful early fall tablescape, Mary Jo! I’ve never heard of Terrain, they must be local? (It’s probably for the best lol.) We’re still warm here and I can’t wait for bonfire weather! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home

So pretty, and I feel like the striped napkin was the perfect choice under the leaf plates. Just lovely!

I love hearing from you!
