How to Decorate a Vintage Goat Cart for Easter
Do you decorate the outside of your home for Easter? The antique goat cart on the front porch is one of my favorite pieces to decorate. Today I’m sharing how I decorate the cart for Easter with a few simple seasonal accents. The old piece has provincial roots, which lends itself to rustic and organic decor.

This vintage goat cart is one of my treasured old finds. It’s full of charm and if it could talk it would have so many stories to share and tales to tell. It provides Old World provincial vibes which is my preferred aesthetic. Let’s get busy and give the old goat cart a dress change with some Easter flair.

Curb Appeal 101
It’s exciting to decorate and celebrate the different seasons and festive holidays in our lives. I always wish to embrace the occasion, whether it’s a small event or big holiday. Seasonal decor helps maintain a home current, fresh and festive.

The exterior of your home is the first impression for all who visit. A front porch styling is key to how guests feel about our homes before they even step inside. This goat cart is the hero feature on the porch and a favorite to decorate throughout the seasons. And, here we are.
As a long coveted piece, this goat cart is a prized possession. If you appreciate a good treasure hunt…
Seasonal Decor
The trick to any seasonal decor vignette is to layer accent pieces in an intentional and edited fashion. This particular display on the vintage goat cart only has three elements. The proper scale and positioning is also key to achieve a pleasing composition. A pair of olive buckets sit in the goat cart most of the time to create a foundation for the flowers, plants and decor which pass through the year.

DIY Moss Bunny
Do you remember this moss bunny DIY from Dollar Tree plastic bowls? Yup, the Bunny was crafted from some inexpensive Dollar Tree supplies. The bunny has all the charm to fill the goat cart with seasonal personality. The moss bunny sits on an inverted smaller container inside the metal olive bucket as somewhat of a stage.

A simple bow is the only accent, allowing the organic feels from the moss bunny do all the talking. The moss is full of texture and lushness, which evoke the feelings of freshness and renewal of the season.
Grapevine Carrots
Grapevine carrots are tucked into the other olive bucket, keeping with the natural and organic emotions. The grapevine texture and tone creates a great contrast to the lush green moss, which is a very nature inspired color combination.

Moss Eggs
The last, but not least, decor accent are the oversized moss eggs, nestled with the grapevine carrots. This was another DIY many moons ago. Creating unique seasonal decor adds a layer of personalization and character to decor, which isn’t easily replicated.

What is a Goat Cart?
Antique goat carts are rooted in European history used to transport produce and supplies when other means of transportation were not practical or affordable. These carts were used during the late 19th and early 20th century in villages and rural areas. They are made mostly out of wood even though some later versions included metal. Reproductions can be found in current day with many different looks.

Personal Note: Researching the topic only reinforced how lucky we were to find this goat cart in the fabulous condition and price point. It’s functional and amazing quality! I almost splurged a couple of times, but for whatever reason I practiced patience (which I don’t have) and restraint, eventually finding this gem.
Goat Cart Inspiration
A goat cart or any oversized vessel like this is a great accent to incorporate onto your porch decor. The goat cart welcomes guests, decorated in a myriad of ways during the year.
