honoring the iconic Bee symbol

Welcome May! Did you know there’s a National bee day in May? To raise awareness of the importance of pollinators, the threats they face and their contribution to sustainable development, the UN designated May 20th as World Bee Day. On that note, I’m kicking off the month of May sharing the iconic bee symbol for some Queen Bee goodness.

Bees are an iconic symbol in today’s world, and there’s no denying the French bee motif has an important impact on design. These fashionable fliers are suited to help nurture our environment as highly efficient pollinators, and their profile is also well known throughout history and design.

Today, I am sharing different ways to inject some Queen Bee goodness into your home. I have some new honey bee projects planned for this season as well. So stay tuned, I will be sharing really soon.

If you don’t want to miss out on any of the upcoming projects you can subscribe to receive all my new posts to your in-box.

The Napoleonic Bee is a Symbol of French industry. There’s no creature more industrious than our pollinator bee friends.

Burlap Bee Container

This container can be used in so many ways. I used it as a cache pot for a flowering potted plant on this table design. It can also be used as a vase for pretty blooms. It would also be fantastic as a canister on the counter in a kitchen or bathroom. The possibilities are endless and it brings that idyllic Napoleonic Bee design aesthetic to any space.

Honey Ginger Champagne Mule Cocktail

Honeycomb is also used in this pretty drink with a twist on the traditional Mule cocktail. Between the sweetness of the honey and the spiciness of the ginger, which is all topped off with the bubbles, it makes for a very complex depth of flavor.

This is the honeycomb I use for my recipes since it can be hard to find in some areas.

All this food and drink should be shared on a pretty table. Here’s a table design honoring the fabulous bee.

The bee has been a vital symbol of French industry and one of the most prominent emblems of the French Revolution. Even today, the bee emblem is used on French glassware, cutlery, linens upholstery fabric and even on cosmetic brands.

“The bee collects honey from flowers in such a way as to do the least damage or destruction to them, and he leaves them whole, undamaged and fresh, just as he found them.”
