Faux Pumpkin Moody Floral Arrangement DIY

Do you need the perfect Thanksgiving or Fall accent piece for your home? I have a great and easy idea for you today. A pumpkin floral arrangement creates the perfect centerpiece for Thanksgiving or accent decor for Fall to brighten your home and wow you guests. A faux pumpkin can easily become a beautiful floral arrangement with all the drama and wow factor.

A faux pumpkin is used for today’s project, but a real pumpkin can be used as well. Although a real pumpkin has all the freshness for the season, please keep in mind it’s perishable. Using a faux pumpkin guarantees you can use this arrangement year after year.

Inspiration for the Faux Pumpkin Floral Arrangement DIY

This Cinderella pumpkin was a score at an after the season sale at a great price. I’m not a big orange decorator for the season, but the subtle hue and shape grabbed me and the price was just right. It’s a great decor accent all on its own, but today it gets an easy glow up with a big wow factor.

This pumpkin floral arrangement will be our Thanksgiving centerpiece, and the finished table will be shared next week. Stay tuned. This is the time of year when festivities and celebrations are at their best. Thanksgiving kicks off a magical time of the year.

How to Create a Pumpkin Floral Arrangement

Although the project shared today uses a faux pumpkin with dry and artificial florals, the same effect can be achieved with fresh flowers and a real pumpkin. The color of the pumpkin can be white and the florals can be deep aubergine or it can be a green pumpkin with white florals. There are so many looks and options. Make it yours.

Supplies

• Pumpkin (faux or real)
• Floral foam
• Flloral pins
• Assorted dried and artificial florals
• Assorted dried and artificial greenery
• Spanish Moss
• Glue Gun Glue Sticks

Tools

• Floral Sheers
• Hot Glue Gun
• Silicone Finger Protectors

Crafting Pro Tip: Read all the instructions through once and then re-read everything again. This way, you are familiar with everything you need and know what to expect.

Instructions

• Read instructions thoroughly and assemble all supplies & tools
• Identify desired florals and greenery
• Attach floral foam pieces around pumpkin stem creating stage for floral arrangement, using floral pins or hot glue to hold pieces in place

• Cut floral stems down to size and start inserting greenery stems around bottom of floral foam, working around the entire pumpkin stem area
• Add a layer of floral on top of greenery, using similar technique
• Keep adding stems Ito floral foam until reaching the top of the crown

• Add stems anywhere there is a gap until desired composition is achieved
• Add Spanish moss to base of stem hiding any mechanics which might peek through

• Voilal! Display the pumpkin floral arrangement and enjoy it for the season

Tips & Recommendations to Keep In Mind

Fresh or Faux

A faux arrangement can be used over and over again. This provides a bigger return for your time, energy and expense. But the freshness of a real pumpkin with live florals can’t be beat. A hybrid model is also an option. Use a faux pumpkin with fresh florals or a real pumpkin with dried flowers. You do you.

• Dried Baby’s Breath
• Floral Twigs

Permanent vs. Temporary

Adhere floral foam to pumpkin using hot glue if you want a permanent display. I chose to simply attach the foam with pins so I could remove florals if desired. This way I can display the pumpkin solo or with the floral arrangement. Chicken wire is another option to place around stem area to insert floral stems. Use what works best with the shape and size of your pumpkin.

Clever Composition

Create a floral arrangement which compliments your decor aesthetic. For a dramatic effect create an assymetrical design or for a more traditional look create a well rounded display. Either way, the key is to have a full arrangement, which covers the crown and doesn’t have any gaps or barren areas cascading beautifully around the pumpkin.

Closing Thoughts

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and all the traditions and celebrations it brings. Miss Masterpiece will be coming home from college for the Thanksgiving break, and I’m looking forward to some girl time.
