Be Inspired to Decorate for the Fall Season Easily
At the onset of the season I shared a transitional decor vignetter in the foyer. We are going to swap some of the decor easily with Fall accents. Without spending a dime and in no time at all the decor vignette is transformed with Fall touches.

A seasonal display is a great way to greet guests as they come through the front door. The limelight hydrangeas, which are the star of the show, are turning colors which gives them that rich Fall look. By swapping some other key accents it provides the seasonal vibes. Look around and use what you have. Using what you have is a sustainable, economical and environmental solution every.single.time.
Intentional Swaps for the Fall Decor Vignette
This process for creating a decorative interior vignette is a therapeutic process for me, but I understand it can be stressful for some folks. I hope this helps or inspires you to create seasonal decor vignettes for your own home interior. Decorating your home should be an enjoyable and stress free process. To see the step by step on creating the decor vignette from the ground up got to {How to Style a Transitional Home Decor Vignette}.

Swap Seasonal Accents
The main seasonal accents are swapped first. Mushrooms are easily replaced with pumpkins for the Fall season. The tall cloche its filled with mini boo white pumpkins left over from the foraged fall table and pine cones recently foraged from our friend’s cabin.

The small decorative mushroom glass cloche in the front of the display is replaced with a velvet pumpkin and a baby boo pumpkin nestled in a green peat pot with Spanish moss and Russian sage also from the foraged Fall table. Whenever possible I use and reuse organic seasonal elements to get the most bang for my buck. If you’re interested I dived deeper into the topic here {stretching grocery store flowers}.

The architectural piece, which was font and center on the other side of the display, is replaced by a stack of pumpkins. The color palette of the is kept tight and cohesive to the color scheme of fetch vignette.

Swap Background Pieces
Although the lace edging garland remains hanging on the mirror as a backdrop, a complimentary piece is added for the season. The Gather sheet music leaf swag was a DIY many moons ago, which helps ground the theme. The layered pieces and leaf motif give the movement effect of falling leaves.

Edit Accents
After the major seasonal pieces are in place some of the auxiliary pieces might need to be adjusted. The leather bound books were removed. The big pumpkin stack on the right had enough of a footprint, which doesn’t require additional height or heft. On the other side a green book and metal vintage cigarette box act as a riser with a bit of character. These were from my latest thrift haul.

Compare and Contrast
Voila! You have easily transformed your decor vignette with Fall feels. The basic composition remains the same , but the seasonal accents tell a different story. Every time you decorate for a new season or event you don’t need to recreate the wheel. Lean into basic foundations that have worked in the past and simply swap key elements.

Tips & Recommendations to Keep In Mind
Shop Your Home First
If you’re a hoarder collector, like I am, then I highly recommend shopping your home first when you create a new decor vignette. Use what you have. Chances are if you own it then you love it, so use it over and over again. Look around and selecte pieces which fit the mood or look you are striving for. Use old pieces in new and unexpected ways. It’s not necessary to buy new things to create new looks. .

Look Outdoors for Inspiration
The great outdoors is always great inspiration. Mother Nature has so much for us to use throughout all the seasons. The hydrangeas from our backyard are on repeat around here this time of year. The pine cones are from a recent trip to a friend’s cabin in Northern California. My son and his girlfriend foraged pine cones for me. My family is accustomed to my constant foraging, and happily jump into the game. Please always be respectful of other’s property and follow any rules and regulations posted. These pine cones were picked right on my friend’s property.

Use the Odd Number Rule of Design
The idea behind the odd number rule is that things arranged in odd numbers are more visually appealing and create more energy. The composition will be more dynamic if there’s an odd number of elements. I included three vintage plates underneath the green floral tub and three books to raise the tall cloche. There are also three large pieces, including the urn, the tub and the cloche. These are also small details, but add to the display dynamic, whether outwardly noticed or not.

Closing Thoughts
I hope this inspires or helps in some way to swap out seasonal decor easily. I love decorating for the seasons, holidays, special events or whatever life throws at us. Embracing seasonal decor doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive. It should be fun, and your home should be a reflection of how you want to feel.

Today the foyer looks like this and tomorrow, who knows? It might convert into a spooky chamber for Halloween. Things are always moving around here.
