Early Fall Foraged Table Setting

early fall foraged table setting

Using foraged pieces from our yard for this particular time in the season inspired this table. Using the great outdoors as inspiration is a never ending resource full of wonderful and exceptional options.

The hydrangeas and Russian sage were foraged from the front and back yard, while the baby boo pumpkins were store bought. The baby boo pumpkins add the perfect crowning accent for the plate stack, grounding the table styling in the season.

The green peat pots were a thrift store find a few months ago and have patiently been waiting for the spotlight. When I found this stack of green peat pots, I knew I wanted to use them for a table scape project, and here we are. The baby boo pumpkins sit atop the green peat pots on a bed of Soanish moss with Russian sage accents.

Copper is a fabulous decor accent anytime of year, but I find it lends itself to fall feels. The copper chargers grace our Thanksgiving table most years, and I wanted to incorporate the chargers and other copper accents for this early fall table design.

Organic elements add freshness to the table while the thrifted pieces add unexpected touches and the copper gives all the cozy and warm feelings of the upcoming season.

The copper chargers create a cozy and warm foundation for the plate stack, which is perfect for the season with the mixed and matched plates. An adorable white baby boo pumpkin sitting on a thrifted green peat pot crowns the plate stack at each place setting, setting the tone for each guest. The little pumpkins reinforce the feelings of the season, which are encased with the Russian sage stems adding all the organic feels. Three Russian sage branches are wrapped up and around the pumpkin and tied off together with a piece of twine.

The assorted flatware and glassware continues the casual and relaxed feel of the table setting. Although the table styling is relaxed and casual it does not mean it’s any less special. The unique appointments and natural elements give the table character and coziness.

The vintage French bread board is piled high with copper pieces, which are complemented with all the natural elements. The fading hydrangeas are a nod to the upcoming season while the turkey feathers are a nod to the later fall festivities. The Russian sage in the Turkish coffee pot mirrors the place settings and. adds a pop of color.

The hydrangea are mirrored on the sideboard and the transitional decor vignette in the foyer. These hydrangeas were also foraged from the back yard. The organic wreath on the shutters over the sideboard is actually a DIY from last year and the flowers dried naturally to the perfect color palette for fall.

You don’t have to spend money on flowers for a centerpiece arrangement. Simply look outside to your own yard or around the neighborhood. On nature walks you can always spy so much goodness from Mother Nature. You would be amazed how much you can find when you look for it. Please always be respectful of others’ property or rules and regulations for local and state parks when you forage and harvest.

I’m a big proponent of shopping your home and looking for decor and pieces you can use in unexpected ways. The thrifted copper trough and vase make sense for a centerpiece but by adding the copper Turkish coffee pot and double boiler adds an unexpected touch. These kitchen pieces complement the setting. Always look around your home and try to view things in new point of views. The unexpected always makes for a nice surprise.

Mixing and matching table top pieces allows freedom to play and removes the pressure to follow any set rules. This allows all the thrifted mismatched pieces to shine and add charm and character to any table styling. You don’t need. to have a matching set of anything to set a thoughtful and pretty table.

You don’t need to spend a fortune to set a pretty and festive table. You can always find table top pieces at garage sales, thrifts and flea markets. Many of the pieces on this table are thrifted, including the accent plates, the assorted silverware, the drink ware, the peat pots plus some of the copper accents.

Use all the fancy stuff on the daily. I know hand washing china, crystal and silver is not at the top of anyone’s list, but indulge once in awhile. I like to pull out our wedding china and all the stuff every so often. Don’t save the good stuff only for holidays. Letting all these special “dishes” simply sit in a cabinet is no fun. If you have grandma Rose’s china, by all means bring it out to play. By using some refinery you immediately elevate the meal and occasion. We all deserve a touch of the special stuff.

Setting a pretty table is a favorite around here. I find the process therapeutic and enjoy all the steps from theme creation to table top selections to execution.  If you enjoy the good life and want a reflection of this in your home, please consider joining the Masterpiece community.
