Delicious & Dainty Smoked Salmon Tea Sandwich Recipe

delicious salmon tea sandwiches

The variety of tea sandwiches is really limitless. To me the quintessential tea sandwich is the cucumber sandwich, which I shared here {tea sandwich ideas – perfect for the entertaining season}. But this smoked salmon version gives me all the special occasion vibes. It’s perfect for the upcoming Easter holiday, Mother’s Day and other special celebrations.

You could also serve these as an open face option. Here I topped small cocktail bread slices with the creme fraiche and smoked salmon combination, which I topped with capers and red onion for an extra punch.

Another way we have served this is as a build your own toast points. This would be a great option with a similar garnishment board as here {how to create a deviled egg garnish board}.

You can really adapt it to fit your preference from how you build or deconstruct the tea sandwich to the garnishes you offer to the bread selection you choose.

Equipment

  • Circle Biscuit Cutter

Ingredients

  • 8 Slices Rye Bread
  • 4 Oz Creme Fraiche
  • 8 Oz Smoked Salmon
  • 1 Dash Dill Weed

Instructions

  • Assemble all ingredients
  • Cut circles out of rye bread slices using biscuit or cookie cutter; 2 circles per slice
  • You should get 2 circles from each rye slice, yielding 8 sandwiches
  • Spread creme fraiche liberally on all the bread circles
  • Cut up smoked salmon into individual servings according to how much you would like in each sandwich
  • Place smoked salmon pieces on creme fraiche only using half of the bread rounds
  • Sprinkle dill to taste on the other half of bread circles
  • Close sandwiches, paring a salmon circle with a dill circle
  • Arrange tea sandwiches on serving platter.
  • Enjoy! Bon Appetite.

Notes

This recipe is for a closed sandwich, but it can easily be adapted to an open face sandwich.  Simply add dill on top of smoked salmon and don’t top with another bread slice.  Ingredient quantities should be adjusted accordingly.
