pretty perch in the garden

Fall is definitely in the air around here. Today I am sharing a pretty pumpkin perch in the garden with all the fall feels for some seasonal inspiration. This is from the archives, and I love all the autumnal vibes.

The weather around here actually feels Fallish, but I hear we might reach triple digits again next week.  Oh well- I am enjoying every second of it while it lasts!

We added some personality to the sitting area in the veggie garden. We’ve had this vegetable garden for over a decade now. It’s one of the first things in our backyard plans that Mr. M made sure we put in when we first moved here, because he knew it was really special to me.

Last year I decided to move this patio set to the veggie garden area, which shared the sneak peek here {spring gardening}. This year I decided to give it more ambiance for us to linger longer here…..especially since it’s competing with our {front porch sitting area} now.

I had wanted to style it over the summer, but I waited too long and then we had the crazy triple digit temps plus the wildfires, which brought days upon days of hazardous air quality, so unfortunately it prevented me from getting out here and getting the project done.

Fast forward to now with temps that dipped down into the 80s {wink} and a much better air quality level prompted me to create a Fall setting. Truth be told, it’s the darn TJ pumpkins that pushed me over the edge. Lol.

So I am taking a quick opportunity to share this little slice of heaven with you.

I got the boho solar lanterns at the shop {Whim House}, which usually flank the veggie garden.  You can shop for these solar lanterns and other styles here {Whim House}.  They are super easy to use and super pretty.  Now they hang on some manzanita branches giving the patio set sitting area a pretty glow.

Our lemon tree is right outside the garden and it’s full of fruit.  I love lemons, and this tree does not disappoint year after year.  We also have a lime tree on the other side of the garden but it hasn’t yielded fruit yet

Our original lime tree was great but one winter the temperatures dipped unseasonably low for Northern California, and the tree didn’t make it.  We replaced it a couple of years ago, and this one has not beared fruit yet, but I am still holding out hope. Edited: Our lime tree showed signs of life this past season, and actually bared fruit.

I love our limelight hydrangeas and they look beautiful in this vintage watering can.  The hydrangeas and their leaves are starting to turn colors giving them that Fallish feel.  

I love harvesting from the veggie garden.  We have used herbs, lettuces, and some tomatoes this season.  I love cooking from our harvest.  It is such a rewarding experience; this is a great post about the benefits of vegetable gardening.

When we installed the garden years ago the picket fence around the raised beds was the piece de resistance.  It was pretty but also practical to keep critters at bay as much as possible.

Do you have some type of edible garden?  What do you like to plant?Through the years we have narrowed down our selections to our specific preferences but I am itching to try something new.  I think this year I might try to plant some fall crops since the California weather is somewhat mild?
