All About the Thrifted Goodies Series
The Thrifted Goodies series consists of monthly posts where my friend, Rachel, from the Antiqued Journey, and I share thrift store intel. Topics might include particular finds, tips, stylings, techniques, up-cycles, and general advice about thrift shopping mostly for home decor in general. Some months we invite a guest host. Thank you for joining us.

Today I am sharing my most recent thrift finds, which I’m integrating into my Christmas decor. Some are Christmas specific, while others are pieces I can use throughout the year. In the last thrifted goodies post I shared thrifted Christmas decor in general. Come on in and check out my most recent thrifted finds styled for Christmas

Rachel is sharing a Christmas tree decorated on a budget with thrifted finds. She always finds the most amazing pieces! You don’t want to miss her latest post. A Variety of Thrifted Finds Styled for Christmas
Baskets
Baskets are always great finds at thrift stores any time of year, but they are great for Christmas to hold all sorts of Christmas baubles. The latest baskets I picked up are super cute and only cost $1 each. Many of the baskets I source at thrift stores require some type of up-cycle, but these two pieces are staying as is for now. I like the color, love the handles and you can’t beat the price, making these totally low maintenance.

Baskets look great with greenery and Christmas foliage. This double handled basket is perfect as a drop-in cache for 4-inch pots. Adding a ribbon creates a festive detail. Voila! Instant holiday decor. You gotta love easy and affordable decorations. They also make great hostess gifts with fresh greenery or a faux tree.

The other basket I recently thrifted I shared the other day on the deer styling, overflowing with dried roses. Mr. M gifts me ivory blush roses frequently, which are similar to the roses in the nosegay bouquet I carried on our wedding day. I have been drying said flowers for years and use them for decor all the time.

Another thrifted basket I am using in my Christmas decor is the last one which got a slight facelift here {Another Super Easy Thrifted Basket Make-over}. It’s piled high with basic ornaments, which are immediately elevated when styled in the basket. I love the lux the gilded air-clay cameo and velvet ribbons add to the otherwise simple basket. Baskets have great texture and can be used and so many ways. More on thrifted baskets here {Thrifted Basket Finds, Up-cycles and Styling Ideas}.

Unique Silver Pieces
Ok, I believe we’ve established I have a bit of a silver obsession. Last year I shared how to use thrifted silver in Christmas decor. Whenever I find interesting silver pieces, I have a hard time walking away. This little guy immediately spoke to me, but I left it alone since I already have many similar pieces. But the lion motif and mini handles are fabulous details, and I ended up circling back and picking it up.

For $1.50 you really can’t go wrong. It cleaned up nicely with a good polish. Pieces like these are great for displaying bottle brush trees. They are also great for tooth picks and cocktail forks when you’re entertaining.

Silver Table Top
For more silver plate love, which is one of my absolute favorite things to hunt for at thrifts. I have been doing it for so many years now, that I only seek really unusual pieces.

I found a bag of silver plate napkin rings for 50 cents each. They are fantastic on their own, but I dressed them up for Christmas time. After a good polish I added this simple NOEL ribbon. The ribbon is attached with glue dots on the ribbon, which can easily be disassembled after the holiday, leaving the silver plate rings to be used the rest of the year.

I love the sleek profile, which can compliment any table design. although they are simple they add classic elegance, bringing festive vibes to any table setting. This was actually one of those items I passed up the first time, and the next time I visited the store looked for them. Luckily they were still there, but the other piece I had left behind a brass candle decor piece was gone. Cue in thrifting regret. It’s all part of the thrifting experience. They’ll be more great thrifting content in the new year.

Thrifting Pro Tip: Always have a list of items you are looking for and interested in along with any pertinent measurements for said items. Add the list to your notes in your phone so you always have the list with you whenever you pop into a thrift.
Christmas Graphics
Vintage graphics always add a layer of interest and refinement. This LP immediately grabbed my eye when I entered the thrift store since it was front and center on the main table display. I picked it up, but couldn’t find a price. I asked the lady volunteer and she said I’ll give it to you for $1 and all of Christmas is 40% off. Yup 60 cents later the fabulously vintage LP is mine.

It does contain the record inside, which looked in pristine condition. We tested it on my son’s turntable and it’s beyond fantastic. 60 cents people! I really only wanted it for the cover, but the fact the record plays fabulous Christmas carols is a total bonus!

Christmas Accent Decor
This little metal holly accent piece is super cute. It was $1.50 but I bought it so late in the season it was 50% off. And the thing is I was hemming and hawing about getting it because I didn’t care for the red ribbon. Seriously?!?! Anyway I brought it home and changed it up a bit.

Once I got it home a little Rub-n-Buff helped me alter the red ribbon, and I absolutely love it now. Holly is always a favorite of mine and I talked a bit more about that last time here {Thrifting for Christmas Decor}.

Christmas Santa Mug
I know the Santa mug thing is BIG and many folks collect them. Personally I’m not a collector myself, but this cute little teeny tiny guy is so cute. He’s only 50cents and makes a perfect little accent.

I tucked a little bottle brush tree inside it, and it looks so adorable in the gingerbread cupboard. If you’ve been following along, the had many gingerbread craft and DIY projects around here this season. They are in full display in the cabinet in the kitchen. I’ll be sharing more in a few days.

Things to Keep in Mind when Thrifting for Christmas Decor
Altering & Up-cycle Potential
Keep in mind you can always alter a piece if you really like the bones of the piece, but want to change the color or vibe or whatever it might be. You can paint a piece to coordinate with your decor, or you can polish a tarnished item to make it shiny and bright. You can use rub-n-buff like I did and give a piece a different look and more.

Small Details for a Simple Glow-up
If you like a piece but it’s a little bland and boring you can always spice it up to make it festive. By adding ribbons, or Christmas baubles, or greenery you can spruce up an otherwise flat piece.

Use in Unconventional Manner
Don’t let the intended use of an item deter you from getting it. Allow yourself to use said item in an unconventional manner. The Christmas Carols LP is not for easy listening, although we have enjoyed it, but rather for beautiful Christmas decor.

Thrifting Pro Tip: Look at thrift store finds while thinking outside the box. Sometimes you like an item, but don’t need to use it for its intended purpose. Make it yours!
Closing Thoughts
I hope this has inspired you to hunt for some thrifted Christmas decorations. There are many options from holiday specific pieces to broader options, which can be used throughout the year for different occasions and seasons.
