Today I am sharing a pretty table set for the upcoming St. Patrick’s day celebration next week. This is a St. Patrick’s day tablescape on the fancier side if things.
The inspiration for the table were the toile green table cloth and the Spode green transfer ware plates.
The shamrock plants and pillar candles as a centerpiece completed the picture and everything else fell into place.
I covered the shamrock grower pots in kraft paper bags and the assortment of pillars include different sizes and colors to add depth variety.

The emerald water goblets are a perfect accent for St. Patrick’s day vibes and are complimented by Irish cut crystal. The Waterford crystal is from our wedding registry and our pattern is Ballymore, which has since been discontinued.
Waterford has really cut down on the available selection of collections from when we registered a quarter of a century ago. They have hung their hat on the Lismore pattern which I guess is a smart move since it was | is the most popular pattern. Lismore is the pattern my in-laws own so we decided to choose something slightly different although it’s very similar.
The napkins are from my parent’s collection which I rediscovered when I cleaned out the linen closet, and you can read all about it here {linen closet organization}. The napkins are monogramed with my parent’s initials which make them all that more special to me.
The label place cards for the napkin rings were easy to make on the computer which is a sweet little detail for each place setting. And the last detail at each place setting is our sterling which I always pull out for special occasions and it was part of our wedding gift from my parents.

And in other news, I just bought a corned beef brisket for next week. I have never made corned beef and cabbage and I am going to give it a go this year. Why not?! I’ll let you know how it goes.
My mother made a delicious corned beef and cabbage. She actually included sweet potatoes and turnips with the regular potatoes and all of it mixed together was super yum! I have to research recipes since I don’t have my mom’s recipe but I am excited to try this.
Through the years I have come to realize that not all corned beef and cabbage is created equal and my mother spoiled me for most. It’s a meal I only indulge on St. Patrick’s day IF I do. I actually can’t remember the last time I had it.
Once again it’s a holiday | celebration we will be spending at home with just the four of us, but it has become the new norm. Things are looking better for the future and hopefully we will be gathering more and more with more folks…slowly.

I just love the bags on those shamrock plants, and those napkins! As someone who is mostly Irish we always celebrated when I was growing up. Now that 2 kids are at college and it’s just me and my husband and son we don’t really celebrate it. I used to give the kids surprises on the morning of, before school (like gold chocolate coins!) I made it with a bunch of root veggies, potatoes, sweet potato, turnip, carrots. XO- MJ

Your tablescape is beautiful. I cook corned beef and cabbage just as I would do a boiled dinner–with potatoes, turnips, carrots, onions, etc. If the pot isn’t big enough, I cook my potatoes separately (and usually make extras for home fries or hash later in the week! I never made corned beef for my late ex husband who was Irish. My current SO, who is French Canadian, loves it!

This is a beautiful table and I love LOVE that you are using fine linens, lovely china and gorgeous stemware. Your toile tablecloth is lovely as well. I’ve been looking for green toile for what seems like forever.
