Welcome to Styled 2 Ways – Spring Decor Edition
Styled 2 Ways is a collaboration between my blog, Master”pieces” of my Life, & the blog From the Bay to the Beach, penned by Susan. Two different points of view for a particular styling, project or concept are shared. A guest host sometimes includes another styling for triple the fun. Thank you for joining us; we’re happy to have you here with us.

Although Susan and I both like many of the same things, we both have unique styles of our own, and we want to share how the same idea can be expressed in different ways. Both ways are equally as fantastic, and appreciating other unique takes on the same idea expands our own personal style.

Inspiration for Spring Bulb Lantern Decor Ideas
Not too long ago I shared a Dollar Tree lantern glow-up, which I wanted to showcase today with Spring bulb decor. The lantern glow up was inspired by a Terrain lantern and Terrain is a nature inspired retailer so it seemed fitting to decorate the up-cycled lantern with nature feels.
The Terrain inspired lantern plus lanterns in my collection are styled with spring bulbs and all the seasonal feels. Different designs are showcased to give ideas and inspiration, but they are grounded with rustic, organic and vintage vibes, which is my personal style. Feel free to adapt for your personal design aesthetic if you are inspired today to decorate your own seasonal lantern.
Easy Spring Bulb Hack
I have forced bulbs in the past, which is not necessarily difficult, but does require a bit of planning. A simple hack is to buy bulbs already forced or potted that are ready to bloom. It’s that instant gratification thing. When you force your own bulbs you need to wait for them to sprout and bloom, which in it of itself is gratifying as well, but over a longer time period.

Some might argue that it’s more economical, but Trader Joe’s has super affordable options and several selections, including bulb stems to forced bulbs in glass or potted bulbs in various flower options. I share a couple of different varieties today, including Hyacinth bulbs stems and forced Daffodils. Plus you can see how I used forced Hyacinth bulbs last year for this project {Styling a Vintage Inspired Easter Garden Container}.
Forced Spring Bulbs Lantern Decor Styling
Yellow daffodils give an air of cheeriness to this styling, which are complimented with a cluster of perky yellow mushrooms. The scattered feathers add to the Spring freshness feels, plus the vintage thrifted handkerchief gives the perfect charming last detail to round out the display.

Spring Bulb Stems Lantern Decor Styling
White hyacinth bulb stems are immersed in a thrifted cut glass mug, which provides vintage vibes. White flowy feathers stuck in a vintage floral frog continue the story and a green felted mushroom adds a touch of whimsy. An agate DIY beaded garland gives the perfect final organic detail.

Faux Spring Bulbs Lantern Decor Styling
Dainty faux Hyacinth bulbs are tucked in thrifted silver pieces surrounded with Spanish moss and dried baby’s breath to add freshness and texture. A faux taper candle in a silver holder adds a bit of drama, while a green velvet ribbon adds a touch of elegance to the otherwise rustic styling.

Tips & Recommendations to Keep In Mind
Use What You Love
I used feathers, mushrooms and vintage thrifted pieces to accent the lantern displays because they are elements which speak to me and make me happy. I use these elements around my home throughout the year regardless of season or holiday. Making decor work beyond seasonality extends their purpose and makes for sustainable decorating.

Shop your Home First
I’m a big proponent of shopping your home first and looking for decor pieces you can use in unexpected ways. Besides the bulbs I didn’t buy anything new to create these seasonal lantern arrangements. I leaned into my decor arsenal and although these are Spring decor displays, the items used besides the bulbs are not seasonly grounded per se. I can use all these pieces in different ways for other seasons and holidays.

Amp the Ambiance
Since these are lantern stylings, I found it fitting to included a candle. Candles create a certain mood and light up the displays from within. I only use battery operated faux candles for these lantern displays for safety reasons. A real candle flame encased in glass with other elements can be unpredictable, making faux candles a prudent choice.

Thrifting for the Win
You might have noticed I used a few different thrifted finds in the displays. Thrifted pieces are unique and always bring character to a decor arrangement. I highly recommend leaning into second hand sources for decorative accents to curate your home. If you’re curious these are the thrifted items I used here:
Lantern #1: Floral Handkerchief
Lantern #2: Floral Frog & Cut Glass Mug
Lantern #3: Assorted Silverplate Pieces

Closing Thoughts
I hope you enjoyed these spring inspired lantern stylings, and you can gleam ideas for your own decor. This is my first spring project of the season, and I am so looking forward to all things Spring. Later in the Spring season, bunnies, Easter eggs, carrots and the such can be used for these type of displays. If you’re thinking it’s too early for spring, these are snow drop bulbs sprouting in the front yard walkway right now, and I am all about it.
