Shiny and Bright Christmas Foyer Decor

shiny and bright Christmas foyer

The foyer or entryway in your home is the first impression to the outside world. When folks walk through your front door into your home they are immediately in “your” space. Festive seasonal decor keeps your home fresh and current.

If you’ve been here longer than a hot minute then you are probably aware that I love all things Mercury glass. I’ve had this collection of mercury glass trees for several years now, and I wanted to display them here in the foyer with their shiny and bright profiles. They greet our guests as they enter our home with all the Christmas cheer.

Amongst the forest of glass trees sits a mercury glass compote DIY, which has a Christmas candle DIY. I will be sharing the Christmas candle tutorial tomorrow. I try to use most of our Christmas decor from year to year, but I don’t necessarily use everything the same way. The foyer is the perfect spot to keep things different and new since it’s the first impression when folks walk through our front door. You can see how our Christmas foyer looked like last year here {Christmas Decor Vignettes {Ideas & Inspiration}.

Please come on in and enjoy some Christmas inspiration for a few minutes during this busy time of year. Anything in mass always makes a bigger impact, and it’s one of my preferred decor techniques. For this foyer styling I used a collection of mercury glass trees, which are contrasted with Christmas green accents.

The mercury glass trees are the main event for this shiny and bright Christmas foyer styling. They look like an icy wonderland to me and although they are sleek, they also have a vintage vibe. I used five trees since I prefer odd numbers for decor composition. The trees are assorted with different shapes and sizes which creates interest.

If you are familiar with my home, you have seen this urn plenty. It sits here on the bombe chest most of the year and is usually crowned with the preserved boxwood orb. The urn is a thrifted find which got a major facelift when I brought it home. You won’t believe how it looked before, now that you see it here. The whitewashed gray finish plays nice with the silver trees and the boxwood orb is a fresh pop of color against the sea of gray and silver.

Candles are immediate mood setters in rooms and in the foyer it’s no different. Plus I like to use a scented candle in the foyer, so it greets our guests as soon as they walk through the door with an enjoyable scent. This adds a feeling of comfort and serenity. This DIY candle not only smells fantastic but looks beautiful too.

Playing off the boxwood sphere additional green accents are scattered about the vignette. A green velvet ribbon bow hangs on the white feather wreath, while a green velvet ribbon hangs on a mercury glass ornament. Also a green decorative artichoke-like ornament sits at the base of the silver trees. All these green elements add a ton of texture to the otherwise sleek trees.

Across the way sits the monogram wall which also has seasonal details. The advent calendar sits next to the gallery wall. Snowy faux holly branches, Christmas baubles and an oversized Santa all add festive touches.

As you enter through the front door into the foyer you are greeted with a rustic Christmas wreath, which I shared yesterday. I will share the rest of the porch next week.

Past the foyer sits the dining room, which has the festive pink Christmas table setting and the bar styling, which I recently shared.

Next to the foyer sits the living room with our traditional family Christmas tree and the fireplace focal point decorated with the brown neutral look this year..

Festive details all around add the magic of the season. A decorative door hanger on the front door and a Merry Christmas Garland hanging over the opening to the living room plus a honeycomb bell hanging on a basket on the hall tree all add small details. All the small details add to a big seasonal boost.

Make sure to come back tomorrow when I’ll share how you can also make the beautiful Christmas candle. There was a major SNAFU involving my phone and hot wax. I’ll leave it at that for now. I’m glad I can talk about it, since it could have been a huge jolly blocker.

How are you doing this holiday season? I am almost done shopping, and I’m almost done decorating. The only detail haunting me at the moment is our Christmas greeting card. Hoping to knock it off the list tomorrow. Let me know what you’re up to, and I hope this shiny & bright Christmas foyer inspires you in some way. Until next time friends.

  1. MaryJo, started to comment this morning but was interrupted by the roofers and then friends stopped by so here it is late afternoon…loved the foyer. I have a collection of mercury trees and lanterns displayed in different areas of the house. Yours in the foyer make a nice statement of subtle sparkle and color with your green accents. Lovely
