The long tailed bow tutorial was inspired to shift gears and have a dress change for the Saint Patrick’s Day holiday. The red ribbons from Valentine’s Day were strategically and easily replaced by green ribbons. Voila! Instant Erin go Brach vibes with luscious green tones.

An air-clay shamrock charm was the perfect accent for our front door wreath a few years ago. This year I’m adding the charm again with a newly assembled long tailed bow. The perfect combination for a charming St. Patricks’ day wreath.

By layering a basic wreath with seasonal touches creates a charming decor accent without much expense or effort. Easy seasonal decor is always welcomed and encouraged around here. Join me as we assemble the perfect front door decor for the St. Patrick’s day holiday.

A square preserved boxwood wreath adorns or front door most of the year. Having a basic wreath which has presence all on its own, but yet lends itself to be adorned for different occasions is a great decorator staple. A few years ago we installed a Dutch door, which provides provincial European vibes to our home, and I wanted a wreath which would compliment it and do it justice. Enter the square boxwood wreath.

Today we will take said wreath and adorn it with St. Patrick’s day charm. The best part? It’s an easy and economical way to add seasonal decor to your home.

When I first shared this bow tutorial and hack for the Valentine’s Holiday it was dressed in reds for the occasion. We will disassemble the long tails and reassemble with green touches for the upcoming St. Patricks day Holiday. That’s the beauty of the long tailed bow hack; for all the details you can visit the original post here {Valentine’s Day long Tail Bow and Hack Tutorial}.

We will take it a step further today and add an air-clay shamrock charm to the bow for an extra layer of seasonal intention. This clay charm was a project from a couple of years ago, which made it easy to incorporate. Since I want to use and reuse this bow hack for other holidays and occasions, I chose a neutral color for my main bow. It was easy to remove the red Valentines themed tails and replace them with green inspired ribbons for St. Patrick’s day. Beyond that I can repurpose the bow for a spring touch or patriotic vibes over the summer and so on. Stay tuned you will be seeing more long tailed bows around here.

Lavish and spendy ribbons are not necessary to create a fabulous bow. Some of the ribbons and trims used here are found at the Dollar Tree. I always look at the craft section at thrift stores too, plus garage and estate sales are also a great resource. Big craft stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc. also run discounted sales regularly so be on the look out for those. I recommend using ribbons of different widths, varied patterns and mixed textures. This will add more interest and depth to your finished piece. Using trims as a ribbon option adds a touch of whimsy and gives movement to the ribbon tails.

Seasonal decor can be daunting, overwhelming and stressful, but I’m here to show you it does not have to be. When you create a formula like the one used here you can apply it to different seasons and holidays. A versatile bow hack and a simple clay charm add all the seasonal intention needed with a subtle hand. Understated decor sometimes has a bigger impact than over the top seasonal accents.
