oh christmas tree! in the living room

We prefer the silver tip trees that are skinny & sparse.
A combination of Dr. Seuss & Charlie Brown.
I’m happy to be sharing this post @  Jennifer Rizzo’s holiday house walk.  There’s so  much inspiration and holiday cheer to get everyone in the holiday spirit.
I like the elegant daintiness.
The ornaments have room to hang between the branches.
Mr. M does the lights, I do the garland (this year it’s a ribbon) and Master & Miss M do the ornaments with a bit of supervision from moi.  It’s a family affair & I love it that way!
The coffee table in front of the tree just has some baubles on a silver plate over a pedestal and some stacked books & coasters topped with a jeweled cross.
The mantel wall is the focal point when you walk into the living room.
I love my new glittery reindeer & I arranged the mantel vignette around it.
Do you recognize the garland?  You can read more about it here.  I don’t have the stockings hung yet ‘cuz I decided to buy new ones this year and they have not arrived yet.
I do however have these little books I bought last year hung up; I had everyone write something that was most memorable from last Christmas and I want to do it every year.  They hang  alongside everyone’s stockings &  it’ll be fun to read through the years.  It was already fun just reading last year’s thoughts when I hung them up.
On the right side of the mantel sits my sofa table that gets moved to make room for the tree.
I try to keep the palette rather neutral since there’s so much going on over here.
Green to me is a neutral color (if you can’t tell from my house).  I love these little birdies I got at Filoli   this year.
My dough bowl filled with greenery, pine cones & mercury glass sits uner the table with some old frames standing by.
On the other side of the mantel is a bookself where I have a few vignettes.  I love birds & birdhouses any time of year.
On the other side of the room sits the piano which the kids have been playing.  On my pewter tray  assembled some fun, bright green Christmas cheer.
A green tinsel tree w/ silver mercury glass ornaments & a silver M, an apocathary jar filled w/ green glass ornaments, a couple of green glass trees & my M book.
On the opposite corner sits my mom’s old secretary with all my Santas in cream & gold.
I made the book tree last year and I’m hoping to do some other book print decorations this year.  I’ll share when I get them done.
Everytime I see a new Santa I want to buy I have to stop myself since I don’t know where I would put them all.  He was the last one I bought a couple of years ago and I couldn’t resist.  He’s so dang charming!
On the back wall sits my collection of glitter putz-esque houses.
Some day I might splurge on some high end houses but for now these make me perfectly happy.
Sorry about the blaring flash, but it’s been cloudy & rainy around here so even during the day the natural light is not enough.
I’m hoping to finish my kitchen & family room soon to share.
The kids’ last day of school before winter break is this friday and I need to finish my Santa duties before then.
