I’ve been wanting to do an Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven” vignette for Halloween for a few years now.
BUT I did not have the pièce de résistance.
But, viola, I found it earlier this year; remember this?
So I finally completed my vision.
This was really fun to put together.
I printed the banner on book pages (I always pick up books at the Dollar Tree or thrifts stores), ripped the edges and strung them on a piece of twine.
I have a bunch of manzanita branches hanging around for the right project so I spray painted a couple for this project.
I also had a bunch of birds in my halloween stash that usually reside in the front porch vignettes but not this year. I also picked up a few more at the Dollar Tree.
Plus some spanish moss on the branches adds to the whole macabre feel.
Also through web searches I found this amazing free printable for “The Raven” @ the it’s always autumn blog .
How fantastic is this?
It just amazes me how many free printable graphics are out in blogland.
I’m working on a few projects where I use other free printables which I hope to share soon.
The kids love all this although they weren’t familiar with the poem.
It’s a fun way to introduce classical literature to them.
For those of you who might follow my blog you know I like creepy | eerie Halloween.
This fits right in.
Other details are skulls, feathers and my book pumpkin, continuing the literature theme.
Stay tuned for some more spookiness soon.
Happy Haunting !
