As promised I am here today to show you the mushroom inspired decorative vignette created around our new {wispy mushroom wreath DIY}. The mushroom vignette has all the magical, fun, and mystical vibes you would expect from a whimsical display.
This vignette is not an everyday thing, but rather an over the top vibes for a themed event or special display. It’s fun to bring like items together to display in mass. If you are new around here you can read about my mushroom love affair here {my fascination with mushrooms | fungi | toadstools}.
The weather has been so nice over the last few days I set up this display outside. I like all the enchanted springtime feels this little mushroom vignette gives off. It’s so fun to play sometimes. It keeps me young and happy.

Inspiration for the Mushroom Inspired Vignette
If you are a regular reader then you know this project was springboarded by yesterday’s craft. The wispy mushroom wreath DIY that I shared yesterday started these charming shenanigans.
From there I created a mushroom vignette to display, and it became a bigger thing than I anticipated. Like I said it’s fun to play sometimes. This was not a project I had planned, but I just ran with it, or it might have run with me actually. Either way, let me share with you.
Layers for the Mushroom Vignette
Frames
The backdrop on the outdoor sideboard are my junked chippy shutters. Leaning on the shutters are layered frames to create a tighter backdrop for the mushroom display. One frame simply contains a piece of burlap to create a neutral backdrop and the smaller frame has mushroom artwork I found for free on-line.
Basket
A basket corals a bunch of the mushrooms with some faux greenery to give it all the enchanted forest vibes. The basket is a recent thrift store find, and I will be giving it a make-over soon. I love all the texture baskets provide and this one has a ton of character in my opinion.
Mushrooms, Mushrooms and More Mushrooms
In the basket are some of my collected mushrooms. To tell you the truth I don’t even remember where I found most of these. Off to the side sit some mushrooms in cloches. The largest cloche I actually made years ago. Then the small cloche is a Christmas ornament, but I use it as decor all the time, and the last one I simply assembled for this project.
Closing Thoughts for the Mushroom Vignette
Besides the basket being a thrift find, the metal frames are also thrifted, which I will be showcasing on Thursday on the next installment of the Thrifted Goodies Series. Thrifted pieces are favorites around here for home decor.
This is my first outdoor project for the season, and I am so excited for all the springtime goodness. I am so conflicted since Easter seems so early this year and I already feel behind, but it’s only February. Plus I want to inject some St. Patty’s day vibes, since that’s always fun. So much to do, and so little time…
