moss planter

It’s no secret I love anything with moss as well as cast iron pieces… so this was a perfect marriage for me.

Now, I can’t take full credit since I got the idea from a boutique in a coastal town near me, but of course I put my own twist on it.

This is incredibly easy to create and you can take it in so many directions with different looks.

The assorted mosses can be found at most garden centers and|or craft stores.   The twigs I simply found around the yard or walking on nature trails {I’m always on the look out for cool natural elements when I’m out & about}.

I filled my planter with an oasis form, bringing it flush to the top of the planter.  Then I simply hot glued different moss elements all around the oasis surface, covering the entire planter.  There is no formula or pattern to follow simply slap it on without really thinking about it.  {sorry I was not good about before pictures, but I caught a quick one while in progress}.

Once all the moss had time to settle with the glue {approximately 1/2 hour}, I inserted some twigs and a stone.

I love, Love, LOVE the natural look and feel of the finished product.

AND the best part is that you cannot necessarily kill it.  Since I just made this I can’t give you fool proof ways to maintain it, but I do plan to spray it with water regularly to keep it looking fresh.  This is similar maintenance I use will all my preserved boxwood.
