This year might not be the time to gather and socialize like in years past but the concept of a Friendsgiving is at the core of the sentiment behind the Thanksgiving Holiday.  A Friendsgiving for us this year would only be with one other couple.  We’ve maintained our circle or “pod” pretty tight.

I set the table at our kitchen table since it’s a more intimate setting using mercury glass as the main foil.  I had used my mercury glass pumpkins for our Thanksgiving table last year, but I wasn’t blogging then {long story} so I’ll share a little peak right here:

For today’s table I used mercury glass pumpkins, vases, votives and plates.  This provided the “bling” for the table for sure.

Then to add my note of rustic, organic elements, I added little baby boo white pumpkins, turkey feathers, eucalyptus sprigs and mixed flowers.

The linens under the dinner plates at each place setting are actually party of my birthday excursion shopping trip.  You can read all about it here {birthday wishes}, if you haven’t already.  These are actually kitchen towels but I bought them to use like this as placemats or simply as napkins.  You will be seeing them again in other tablescapes.  I love the colors.  They are perfect for my tables.

The flowers are a mix of flower bunches I picked up at Trader Joe’s along with the eucalyptus.  TJ is my favorite destination for grocery store flowers.  They have the best variety for the best price in my opinion.  It’s always a great value.

The flatware consist of our everyday forks and the Laguiole French knives my cousin gifted us a couple of years ago.  I absolutely love these.  And the stemware is my parent’s water goblets and our everyday white wine glasses.

For the place settings I used our everyday Williams Sonoma bistro dinner plates and glass accent plates I picked up at Target a few years ago.  The plate stack is topped off with baby boo pumpkin and white linen napkins in a napkin ring with a turkey feather.  You can read the story behind these feathers here {secretary desk dressed up for fall}.

Our Thanksgiving table will not be much bigger than this.  It will just be the four of us and my cousin who joins us for everything and has been part of our “pod” since the beginning.  The table will be set in our dining room and I will share it with you once it is ready.

This would have been the perfect table for a small Friendsgiving gathering during these strange times, but since we are pretty busy this month we actually used the table to celebrate Mr. M’s birthday.

We leave on Saturday to pick up my son at college and we will be spending a few days on the Oregon coast before we head back home.  We will get back home on Wednesday right before Thanksgiving so I am getting myself organized and prepared so when we get back all we have to do is pick up Mr. Turkey and maybe a few other things like a fresh baguette.

I am super excited for Turkey day and I am working on making it as special as possible for us.  Are you ready for Thanksgiving?
