Today is the Spring equinox according to the calendar which makes it officially spring time. Insert happy dance here. We have had an awful amount of rain in our area this winter and I.am.done. I am happy to start decorating for Spring.
The last few days have been absolutely gorgeous which has me thinking about Spring and beyond. I have sprinkled some spring decor inside and I started to tend to my outdoor gardening containers, but the forecast calls for more rain in a couple of days. Apparently Mother Nature is not done.
I am hoping we will be able to tend to the vegetable garden next weekend, whether permitting. I have started some planning in my head, but I have not been out to the garden in quite a bit since the rain is a big deterrent.
Usually when I decorate for Spring I start to inject some Easter decor as well but we are still a month away from Easter. Easter is really late in the season this year so I am holding off a bit for now so it doesn’t become old and tired before the holiday is even here. So for now I just injected some birds and nests and some mossy love.
The other day I popped into Pottery Barn and all of Easter is already discounted and they were merchandising the store for summertime. I was talking to the merchandising gal and she explained that since Easter was so late this year it appeared to throw off the merchandising cycle. I guess the late Easter date is affecting everything a bit.
All this made me curious and I had to find out what determines the date for the Easter celebration. Easter falls on Sunday after the full moon following March 21 for Western Christians so it will fall between March 22nd and April 25th each year. Well there we have it. This year Easter falls on April 21st so we can see it’s at the tail end of the window.
Did you notice the vignette in my foyer? I transformed my St. Patrick’s Day vignette into a spring vignette with a few simple tweaks. 
I changed out the vintage card from a shamrock to a daffodil. I also swapped out the Spode green motif jug with a silver compote topped with a bird’s nest. The Bells of Ireland were replaced by some cotton stems. Voila!
I’m not reinventing the wheel each time I decorate. I work with the same frame but just change out some details.
